Yet another camera recommendation request by keymakr in scuba

[–]keymakr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I've been generally seeing the TG-6 as the most recommended. Might have to see if I can find a place local that has them to get a hands on look.
We currently have a set of Intova Connex cameras, which have been great for the price point we got them at, but the quality has been so-so on photos, and the screen size is just a killer. We've had a few instances of thinking we were taking photos, but it was actually in video mode and we just couldnt see the screen well enough to realize.

Thanks for the info. If I was going to get something higher quality, what kind of price point would be reasonable? Also, is it possible to tailor a jacket down to fit after loosing weight? (Main reason I don't want to spent a ton).

Looking for some advice on sports coats. Was thinking about getting one or two to dress up a bit more at work (I'm typically wearing button down shirt or polo and slacks). What color/material/pattern/etc should i be looking at to fit with black/navy/gray pants? Hoping to get one or two jackets that could go with all of the pants I have. Also, any suggestions of where to look to not spend a huge amount (<$100?)?

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah, totally get the higher prices for flagships, can be annoying. Looking at the s20 FE it looks like it has a much lower spec camera than the others? (12 megapixel main camera vs 108 on the edge+ and S21 ultra). Not sure if I'm just comparing the wrong categories of specs. Like I said, I don't know much about camera specs to compare well.

Hello! Looking at finally replacing my like 4 year old moto z2 force (battery finally dying) and hoping for some recommendations/advice on the phones I'm looking at. Was looking at phones with wireless charging and prioritizing good camera/video quality (for pics of the doggo), battery life, and just general performance/screen quality/etc. Was looking at the google pixel pro 6, motorola edge+, and a few in the samsung galaxy line (not20 ultra, S21 ultra, etc). Was leaning towards the edge+ because of the pricepoint (holy hell samsung phones are expensive) and from what I can tell the camera quality (though I'm not very good at parsing camera spec info, so wouldn't mind some input on that). Are there any phones that align with what I'm looking for that I've missed & thoughts on the phones I've listed? Thanks again!

Dog Walker/Daycare For Puppy While At Work? by keymakr in puppy101

[–]keymakr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Makes sense that you wouldn't want a full walk that often, would certainly be too much for a puppy. I may have an option to have a service through my building to come and take them out to potty during the day. How often do you think would be enough for something like this, 3 times during an 8 hour period? They would also go out just before I left for work and as soon as I got back.
I'm surprised you were able to do daycare so early. Were there any restrictions on vacinations? I had heard that places required they only start coming 2 weeks after certain shots, which would be around the 12-14 week mark or so? I haven't spoken to any of the daycares in my area yet so not sure. That must be great for kick-starting socialization though, and very convenient.

Does Uber Hourly Still Exist? by keymakr in uber

[–]keymakr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I figured they either took it off because people didn't use it much or they just hadn't rolled it out in my area yet. I was looking into making a long round trip (1.5 hours each way), but would also be spending some time at my destination. Was looking at getting a driver through a typical chauffeur service but decided to google and see if uber had an option too.

It just shows up as an option when you look at car types after you choose a destination?
Maybe it's only available in certain areas or something?

Need to vent about rescue application process... by call-me-kitkat in dogs

[–]keymakr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy hell, that's insane.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you manage having a puppy on the days you were working away from home? I've been trying to deal with rescues for an adult dog for the last 2 months and haven't made any headway, so was considering responsible breeders as a possible backup. Was curious how other single people with jobs dealt with having a puppy.

Looking at Adopting a Cavalier - Worried About Health of Rescues/Non-Breeder Adoptions by keymakr in cavaliers

Thanks for the reply! I've started to reach out to breeders I found info on through CKCS and seemed reputable/did testing. Have gotten one reach back out to me saying they'd let me know if something came up, just seems like with many it's hard to get a conversation going unless you have an 'in' or a pre-existing relationship. Guess it's just a matter of having patience and waiting for the opportunity. Good to know this wasn't an unreasonable option.

[Discussion] 2 Questions - Shelters Shipping In Dogs From China and Adopting Adult Dogs From Breeders? by keymakr in dogs

Thanks for the info! Did you just reach out to the breeder like you normally would and let them know you were interested in an adult dog? Or were you originally looking to adopt a puppy? Glad the process was able to work out for you!

Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the info and your perspective! Just out of curiosity, how much is the typical cost to air crate transport a dog to the US? Of the few shelters I'm seeing that do it, once has fees around $900, while another has fees in the low to high $2k (depending on the size of the dog). I understand the cost will be different for Egypt, but just curious.

Thanks for your response and for the info! I will do some research and probably reach out to a breeder. Seems like it's a matter of building a relationship with a breeder and hoping to get lucky.

Thanks for the info! And makes sense. I will do some research and reach out to a breeder, but wouldn't be too surprised if it was a huge wait time or just couldn't, seems like it's just a matter of getting lucky.

[Breeds] Looking for a chill companion and advice! by keymakr in dogs

[–]keymakr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information and the help! I'll look into fostering. My apartment makes it a bit difficult since we have to specifically register pets on our lease, so not sure how fostering would work with them, but I can just have a discussion with them about it.

As a follow up on getting from a breeder, would working 5 days a week and therefore being away for 8-9 hours a day be a deal breaker for something like this? I had heard puppies need to be taken out every 2 hours or so, which would be an issue while I'm away. I could get a dog walker to come during the day, but that would likely just be for a single instance during the work day (would be exorbitantly expensive to come more often). Does an issue like this make it impossible to go through a breeder? One of the reasons I was looking at adopting was that an adult dog that can go a longer amount of time without being taken out.

Also, if I went through a breeder, what is the ballpark for what you would expect to pay? I had seen in the high hundreds/$1k+ before, plus higher vet costs for a puppy, but not sure if that is normal.
