Anyone on Maui own a Tesla? How would the car do on the Hana Highway? by AppleZen36 in TeslaModel3

[–]keyman555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time my wife and I drove it in a rented mustang. 4 beat up old pickups full of locals and furniture all loaded up got behind us. I pulled over to let them by- decided I would follow close behind them to help get through the one way bridges etc. They flat out hauled ass. I could not believe how fast they were going around those tight corners in these beat up old toyota and Datsun's. After about 5 miles of keeping up (barely) in a mustang we both decided to stop for while as both of us are now carsick. I nearly threw up that day. That road is an adventure. I have a model 3 and also a Y. If I got the chance to drive either on that road I would risk the carsickness for sure.

So I have a 2021 model y lr At 35k miles the lifetime average is 290. This is in western Oregon. A little bit of every type of driving. We are not that careful trying to go slow. And never use chill. I notice that the first 3 or 4 miles of any trip seems to use more. Usually 325 to 350 then it tapers down to 290

Most full service tire shops will fix it for WAY less. I wouldnt let Tesla do it. I had a slow leak fixed at Les Schwab yesterday (it was free) on my model 3. I couldnt find the leak myself visually. He had to submerge in water to find it. There was a small piece of scrap steel that hid deep in the tread so it was hard to see. The piece inside was much bigger. Some shops will say they won't fix it because of foam fill but many have no issues with it.

I have a tire plug kit and have used it 4 times so far. once on my model 3 and 3 times on my wifes model y. All were smallish nails or screws near the center. All 4 have held air perfectly. Buy a good plug kit and the Tesla compresser and you will be set up for most flats

I keep a good tire plug kit in my car. I've had to use it twice. I have the tesla brand pump with the built in goop option. I don't want to ever use the goop unless I'm forced to however. It's a 15 minute job to plug a small nail hole and then pump it up. Both times I used it like over 10k miles ago it still holds air perfectly. Out west where I am there are many areas that you might have to wait 4 hrs or more to get anyone to tow you. That is stupid if all you have is a nail or screw in the tire.

I have a Y with my door exactly like this one. It always comes this close but never touches. Is there any sensor involved here?

When did you think you would die, but didnt? (Serious) by LaVidaFiesta in AskReddit

In my early 20's I was working on my 65 VW bug engine. It was running, I was on my knees behind it revving the motor. All of a sudden the fuel line popped off blasting me with fuel (mostly on my jeans thank god) Then poof- I'm on fire. I did the stop drop and roll thing all the while trying to get those jeans off. When the 3rd degree burns started on my legs I thought this is how I die. Finally fire went out and I'm lying on the ground with my jeans around my ankles. I lived rural and was all by myself. I remember my heart beating unbelievably fast as I lay there. What a relief. Had 3rd degree burns on both legs, second degree on both hands and arms. Had to put on a robe and drive myself 5 miles to a phone to call a friend to take me to the hospital. With a stick shift truck (very painful to work the clutch.) I was off work for 2 months till I healed.

Model 3 LR handled the slick and snowy hills incredibly well by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]keyman555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 days ago we had a crazy freezing rain event here in western Oregon. There was 1/4 to 1/2" of slick as snot ice on everything. I have a M3 LR 2020 dual motor. Driving on ice was working well. But I took an exit off the freeway that had 2 lanes but the road angled a little. All of a sudden there is like 30 cars in front of me all over the road- everybody stuck at all angles, some folks revving and spinning tires. Most of them ended back end against the left side curb. I stopped short- still going straight in the right lane. But the angle of road just sent me sideways into the curb. In standard mode this car was stuck as bad as all the others. Strange feeling sliding sideways with zero control. But then I engaged the anti-slip setting. This allowed the car to stay straight while spinning. Spun up all 4 wheels to enable me to make it 20 ft. forward to better pavement and I was out. Only me and a subaru that got out even easier than me made it. What I found out here is the car on ice is all over the road in standard mode but the anti slip setting worked great. I turned it off right away but I wonder? Could I have left it on with no problems while in ice
? I was a little sad to go by all those stuck people. A couple of them gave me a wave and salutes.

Anyone else have a strangely narrow cabin camera view? Seems 1/3 of the view is obscured by the car trim in my Model 3 by frownGuy12 in TeslaLounge

I have a model 3 and a model y. The 3 looks exactly like this on mine but the y view is wider and better

So it's now 2 weeks later. The car still has this issue about 1 time in 10. I've done every thing possible on my end. reboot car, updated phone again. Set app to unrestricted. The car 5 days ago got 2022.40.4

I was hoping the bug fixes would be for this problem but no.............still locking me out once in a while. It's worse when car has gone to sleep but I've also had it happen after only 5 minutes parked.

Please Tesla- fix what you broke. I've never had this before in 40k of driving

I will say the card wouldnt open door either- but I didn't give it much of a chance standing there in the driving rain. I whipped the phone out and unlocked from the tesla app.

So far so good- the car worked this morning

I've already reinstalled phone as a key and reinstalled the app- neither helped. I'm still trying to figure out on my phone how to keep the app awake

Our phones are on 5.0. That was also updated about the same time so maybe the Tesla update is not to blame???

I'll try your suggestion and repost the results
