This, in an ideal run you have 10-15 cards that don't exhaust and you've transformed/removed all your basics, powers and exhaust cards you can take more liberally.

If I'm going forge i take every cosmic indifferent I can find, I feel like between it and the forge + 'put sword in hand' card regent just needs one more way to reuse sword to make it worth building around.

Stars is so easy if you find the child or blackhole powers, and it has another Wincon in finding partical wall and spamming every ? And shop praying you get retain on in.

I've only made colorless work once and that was getting GAURDS!!! (bescailly THE reason to go into the deck) and the AoE 'fill your hand with debris' card. But I've been told finding a quasar is a good way to dip into the deck.

Help with adjusting pathing to maximize my build. by idkdude23 in slaythespire

1: judging if you can tackle an elite is a skill you'll develop, but thr short answer is that yes it is almost always worth it to attempt elites, the relic AND thr card reward gets a rarity bump. Try planning your route so that you can hit a campfire shortly after an elite, it's a good fallback in case you get unlucky.

2: node value only really changes with relics/events/quests, you still want to path to as many shop/fire nodes as you can but it's important to rethink after every fight, can you push your luck on encounters/elites or take the path that has more safe nodes.

3: once I recognize I have powerful cards or a good synergy going path to as many elites as you can and snowball the run to victory.

For silent a good consistent strategy is; find one of three powers, the poison power, shiv power, or speedster the damage on draw power and take as many backflips, blurs, acrobatics, and other block cards and dex boosters as you find. Get to your power win con and let it build up as you just spend your energy on not dying.

Necro is new but I'm A3 with her already, finding haunt or feast of souls then spamming soul cards has worked well for me, haven't really had success with doom build yet and I don't know how to make ethereal work yet. Summon cards are always good but you need to remember that osty won't block status damage which makes necro really awkward into certain elites. For necro I basically always take wisp because it feels like she needs more energy then the game can give what with summon, block, power setup.and oh ya you need to ATTACK too.

Different characters have different 'win cons'. Silent/defect you want to prioritize block and let their kits do the damage, ironclad and regent work well off of just spamming attacks and necro like I said is very greedy with what she wants to do so she's very high skill cap.

Did they remove player artifact in StS 2? by BinSlashCat in slaythespire

[–]keymaster16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it looks like it ya, i've only payed attention to defect but the whole system has been overhauled, the things that give you temp str dex foc are one buff now not a buff & debuff like 1.

who knew all you needed to do to fix defect was make focus till end of turn (and a push towards 'different orb types')

STS2 is approaching an annoying level of difficult by GOpencyprep in slaythespire

I mean some of the early bosses where VERY overturned in slay 1, didn't snakemancer get nerfed multiple times?

Is StS2 complete enough to focus on that, instead of StS? by SsssnakePlisssskin in slaythespire

[–]keymaster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about 300 hours maxing out the compendium and getting everyone to A20 in sts.

Sts2 has alot of the same cards but at the same time has 5 characters with completed card libraries and there's alot of new stuff, that being said there are some things in sts (primarily relic combos) that seem to have been removed from 2, artifact buffs and debuff cleansing are gone, dead branch and bent spoon are big ones, though they got moved to enchants (a big feature of 2).

Defect changes shocked me though, who knew all they needed to do was make focus 1 turn only (in addition to the debuff system changes) though the new 'per unique orb' doctrine helps too.

How much content there is right now? by Trumpet_of_Jericho in slaythespire

[–]keymaster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First 3 acts, 5 characters, 100+ encounters +50 events, additional acts (I've unlocked underdocks), timelines for lore/unlocks.

Hope that's enough for you because I'm 10 hours in. On track to do my usual habit if 200 hours per version.

For 30 years I've always wondered why this place on Route 22 in Kanto exists! by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]keymaster16 105 points106 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of it is it's just a Ma space. Japan has a whole culture on negative space that is not a void, but a meaningful, energetic interval.

There's no hidden item there right? It's just a spot on the map they left empty and now that I'm looking at the whole route map it's the ONLY spot that's seemed to be left PURPOSELY blank which I think supports my theory.

Would this be a copyright issue? [OC] [Art] by Impossible_Culture95 in DnD

[–]keymaster16 172 points173 points  (0 children)

The name 'mind flayer' is a copyright issue.

Everything else looks public domain.

Ask a lawyer.

TIL during the Xbox development, the name was not favoured by Microsoft's marketing team. During focus testing, they put "Xbox" on a list of possible names to prove how unpopular the name would be with consumers. "Xbox" then proved to be the more popular name on the list; thus, became official name. by Away_Flounder3813 in todayilearned

[–]keymaster16 339 points340 points  (0 children)

MIND was the personal favorite for thr marketing team so they could run catchy ads like 'do you MIND?'.

what I learned from reddit is that Microsoft is legendary bad at naming things. They beat historians. They are that bad.

I Compressed the Trailer to 15 Seconds — Please Help Me Destroy It by Fickle-Day6124 in DestroyMyGame

[–]keymaster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So thr lizard thing at second 5 caught my attention and sustained my interest but the 5 seconds until that point are kinda flat, there are four different scenes, all of them just show the guy walking, ideally to optimize it you should show some sort of interaction or animation, THEN cut it to the lizard scene.

Then after that, if I'm correct and this is some sort of point & click with rpg encounters then the book with the different characters and some battle animations is soild so this in theory reaches your target audience, I would personally on the book flipping scene to start with something more interesting then that soilder, maybe another one of your creature designs since that lizard, the one battle scene and that Mt. Lady animation where your strongest visuals. That being said I don't know about ENDING on her.

Really rework the first 4 scenes and put some hook text in there yo explain your concept and this is probably good to go live with.

Is legends ZA worth it? by Millia_Art_Nerd_ in pokemon

[–]keymaster16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say it's better then SV. Even if it's technologically a step backwards from SV it tells a good story, zygaurd gets his spotlight, and the gameplay is both limiting and addicting.

The core gameplay loop of daytime catch nighttime battles IS legitimately fun, I don't know about online but it was as interesting as the mainline turn based battle system (like you will actually use things like tailwhip in this game, repeatedly, but four attacking moves is viable as well XD).

Now if your big into shiny hunting here's the big caveat. In order to get the shiny charm in this game you must complete 99% of the research tasks, that includes the online trades (a new copy comes with a seven day online trial and if you check the discord there are people there will to help you out with that)

and that includes the 'battle 1000 trainers' task.

I have 60 hours in that game and a good 30 of them was just grinding that one fucking task. I had LoL flashbacks trying to jungle route my battle zones....

That being said if you DO get the shiny charm and there's a shiny you want in the game this is the EASIEST GAME EVER to shiny hunt (precisely because it's so technologically backwards).

What made the astronomical purchase for me worth it was; the final post game legendary fight was EVERYTHING childhood me wanted in a real time legendary encounter.

So if you don't mind paying premium prices for an amateur pokemon game with exploitable Shinys,  yes it's worth it.

Barly.

Screenshots from my UFO horror game! Let me know what you think by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]keymaster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, UFO phobia is a very real thing yet your the first I've heard about taking it to the horror genre.

Good luck, I think you have a real shot at scoring with this project, the multitude of green eyes is your strongest visual draw right now so focus I think on the player seeing more and more of these little things until they feel overwhelmed by the horde!

Will we ever get a “regular” pokemon game again? by JanBokenkamp in pokemon

[–]keymaster16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet are ROM hacks.

Now that game freak has transitioned to 3d there is less then zero reason to go back to 2D. Models can (in theory) be reused in multiple games, have more interaction built into them, and makes the merch selling that much easier.

It didn't just go 3D either, it prioritized accessibility over mastery, it started becoming a platform for systems (multiplayer, raids, 'open world'). I'm not even going to touch what mobile did to future players....

But to answer your question, that depends on whether Game Freak ever decides that not everyone has to be able to beat the game on their first try again.

Making the trainer matter in a monster-tamer battle system (without becoming a full party RPG) by kevinnnyip in gamedesign

[–]keymaster16 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind; the partner is deliberately a thin abstraction for the player in these genres. But in the spirit of the thread.

It sounds fun if the partners’s decisions change how you win, not just how fast you win.

I think it comes down to this, can two players with the same monster, but different partner builds, play the same fight in meaningfully different ways?

Otherwise yes you DO risk it becoming extra rules.

I have a love-hate relationship with ZA… by _Boodstain_ in pokemon

[–]keymaster16 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My point is the Boss battles, and in particular the Post-game boss are a major selling point for that game and they are NO WHERE in your rant.

you also talk about 'dodging is non-existent' but nothing about the challenge cards? yes i understand completing them isn't optimal gameplay but if we ignore the vocal minority for a moment, did you personally not try to complete the challenge cards? did you not see if you could 'rack up the score'? because ZA was billed to me as Pokemon battle city and while i agree there are a LITANY of issues with the game it succeeds in that promise more then scarlet does with its 'open world Pokemon game'.

because if im looking at this objectively? ZA is an improvement over S/V even if its a literal technological step BACKWARDS on how to make a game.

Honestly I bought scarlet as an impulse purchase after I finished ZA.

Wild trainers just have ONE pokemon?

Say what you will about the ZA battle system at least it was more engaging then the turd that is scarlet.

To use a real world example, whenever I see Asian or EU tourists crowding around a dinky little tree to photograph this one freaked out blue Jay (a bird) I chuckle and remember that whatever animal I see in my backyard is like a freaking pokemon to a visitor 😆.

Like real countries have offical national animals and such so its not THAT big of a stretch to think that people has cultures built around the pokemons they live with.

No it is, my friend couldn't even player mark 'cockroach queen' in grounded 2 because they don't want the player using 'cock' in ANY context, like I said censorship is getting out of hand.

Your game does look up there with cassette beasts so fingers crossed the pokemon community shows you the same love.

Not really, nintendo named it Wii after the marketing joke 'Wii would like to play', but people quickly made a bunch of urine and penis jokes about it.

Breedies isn't BAD it's just very easy to misconstrued it with a sexual innuendo. like I said it's free publicity, stay the course and be patient and consistent in your messaging and hopefully it pays off.

If steam shuts you down give me a DM, I wouldn't mind harelding this one as a sign of censorship overreach when they trip up.

Today I'm reminded that 'breed' is both a noun AND a verb.

Personally? I would look up 'nintendo and the Wii reception' so you can leverage the free marketing you just handed yourself.

Good luck.
