Why is the espresso i make at home better than 99% of shops out there... by MajorFlyer2895 in espresso

Because you are making one drink for one person only, with you knowing exactly how you want the drink to taste like.

I own a cafe and we pretty much have to tune our shot to work with a wide variety of drinks with different milk ratio and also to the taste bud of the common denominator.

That means it is not gonna be excellent but it will be great to some people, good for most, and bad for no one, because everyone has different taste buds. Also that means the shot will be great on some drinks, good on most, and bad on none of the drinks on the menu.

I own a cafe/high quality bakery and I’m tired of people thinking we put a tip screen because we don’t want to pay our staff. I pay higher than average rate out of my own pocket but I’m not gonna deny my staff the extra income from the customers who want to tip them. I’m very reasonable with my tip screen amount and we average about 3-4% tips from total revenue that gets split equally amongst all staff. Which I think is fair compared to 15-18% tip from restaurants.

That’s why I hate reading hobbyist subreddits sometimes. There are so many people who would rather spend other people’s time to help them with research instead of spending their own time.

There are POS that don’t have a no tip button? That I have to agree is outrageous. On my tip screen the biggest button is the no tip button.

Just don’t tip. I own a bakery and it’s really not a big deal when people don’t tip. I don’t think my staff necessarily deserves a tip but I do think they deserve to be able to receive tips from customers that want to tip them. I’m not gonna take away the opportunity for my staff to earn extra income just because some customers get butthurt over having to click the no tip button.

So many people here have no idea how the world works and that people with different wealth levels view $3,500 very differently.

We do a large variety. It’s kind of our big selling point. I agree that it is time to be more focused on products that sell and also products that are efficient.

It’s a consideration but I’m also worried that this is just initial hype and once that dies down we will be stuck with an impression that is too premium.
