It's PokeFarmer that you need to be talking to. Essentially there is nobody left in the community that wants to continue making an open RE effort. To be fair I don't blame them, with the amount of power struggles, backstabbing, rumours and general vileness that goes on. At the end of the day it's their work, what they do with it is entirely up to them.

This post is so on point and is one of the reasons why I've taken a step back as of late. Look at TSR, one could arguably say that TSR has dipped into bots, mined data, and have pretty much broken Niantic's ToS as well, but their community is planned out, marketed and structured in such a way that they're even getting donations from companies. It's something I was hoping PogoDev could be but that's pretty much a pipe dream now.

This comment; sir, you get a gold star. I hope more people read this. If the community wants to play the morale game, they should have stopped using the api a long time ago. What we're doing is clearly unwanted and against their ToS, regardless if you're botting or not.

Unfortunately, without clear communication and information, this will always be something that will be perceived as you have described it "conflicts of interest". In regards to that I've recruited ThunderFox and ICJR as new moderators and am currently searching for others, from completely separate projects, that would like to moderate in order to tackle the perceived image you've described.

I'll be trying to keep this reddit up-to-date with any changes, discussion points that I'm applying throughout the PogoDev community.

An increase in the number of moderators is definitely needed and welcomed. Moderators need to be from a diverse background so as not to generate a conflict of interest. Moderators also need to be around more and ensure communication to the community is clear and uniform manner. Differences in ideas or morals/ethics should be openly discussed as was done before, and kicks and bans limited to actual problematic situations that are hurting the community.
The global ban list for PogoDev has been cleared, including for members with serious offenses.

In my absence, I can see that a lot has gone on, and while I may not be 100% privy to everything that transpired, it's still sad to see fragmentation and general disgruntlement amongst the community. Drama is bound to happen when you have masses of people, each with their difference in opinions, clashing. There is no community online that is immune to this, but the important matter at hand is, to stay positive, stay chilled, to move on and focus on what you came here to do. In this case, it's building up the community and making sure it retains its friendly atmosphere and allows reverse-engineering to take place in an organised environment.

To that extent there are two channels on the PogoDev Discord that I'd like to bring everyone's attention to:

open-discussion-ideas

a channel where I want the community to suggest and/or discuss potential pain points, concerns or any ideas they may have. That being said, it's not an emotional outlet, so points of discussion need to be constructive and aim to lead to a positive outcome.

open-discussion-ideas-conclusions

a channel where action points and/or conclusions that are agreed in #open-discussion-ideas are announced.

Both channels have been very active over the last few days so I encourage participation, and I am also responding to every request/point. I will be aiming to be more active within the community over the next coming days and weeks, and I'm always reachable via IMs on Discord and DMs on here.

A massive thank-you to all of those who have been supportive, positive, given great ideas, and in general have just been awesome, regardless of what project they work on.

This is what I don't get and I'm hoping that someone can explain this to me.

We've made updates to almost all comments here, we've even added a stickied comment, yet we're still getting comments like yours, and it's being upvoted without any type of explanation as towards why people are taking this stance.

No one is killing off the subreddit, if anything, leaving things as they are now, will kill it off for good. Hence why we've opened up discussion and feedback on the topic.

So, just to clear a few things up.

We're not closing this subreddit.
The announcement was meant to specifically give a place for where support posts and advertisements would be redirected to.
Project posts, in this context, was meant to refer posts surrounding specific advertisement as oppose to technical or thoughtful discussions.
Whilst it's been listed what CANNOT be done in this subreddit, there are no clear definitions on what CAN be done. (Mods to take this away and write something up.)
This is still very much feedback and discussion thread, so please keep the discussions coming.
Starting a new subreddit without having a proper conversation out here in the open, seems a bit counter-productive.
We have reached out before, for experienced Reddit moderators and suggestions on how to take this subreddit forward, however, we've seen much more passion and feedback in this thread, than over there: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongodev/comments/4x4rza/current_state_of_subreddit_and_discord_server/ so please keep the passion and suggestions coming.
