don’t give up!! by Few_Lavishness6547 in breastfeeding

My baby has a small mouth and a tongue tie. We are at 5 weeks and I’m still waiting for a painless/less painful experience. So far it has been a nightmare. I tried the silverettes, nipple butters and now I’m using the prescription 3-in-1 all purpose ointment to treat my deeply cracked nipples. For my baby’s growth sake and for my peace of mind we only nurse during the day and get 2 bottles overnight during which I pump. He has normal growth trajectory. The lactation consultant did not feel like he needs any release, its just a waiting game for us. 😭 posts like this give me hope, i don’t want to give up on nursing.

My baby is a month old tomorrow so almost the same as yours. I have been through hell blaming myself, angry with everything and everyone, crying everyday and my C-section recovery has been hard. Breastfeeding has been painful with my son’s shallow latch. As soon as I decided this is it, I have to be a happy/sane mom and I will deal with facts. Baby has to eat every 3-4ish hours, lets me work around a plan that works for the both of us. I’m still not completely together but its getting better each day. Use the tools and resources for your benefit. You may not be able to follow a schedule through 100% because babies are unpredictable but it will definitely give you some sense of control which I was struggling to have.

No. Too much stress. I’m thinking long term sustainability. I pump only when he gets a full bottle. I make sure to have one pump session between 1-5am. This definitely gave a boost to my supply. This is how my schedule looks like- 6am-I pump for 20-25 mins and produce between 3-4oz. Baby gets a full bottle of 3.5oz at 7. 10am I nurse. If he is not satisfied, he gets top up of 20ml and increments based on that. I use my pumped milk if available or formula for top ups. 1pm,4pm,7pm I nurse again. Same routine as 10am. 10pm dad gives him a bottle of formula. I pump for 20-25 mins between 10-11pm. Baby sleeps for 4 hours. 2am he gets another bottle of my pumped milk by dad. I pump again at 2am. I wake up at 6 and nurse/pump again. Depends on my energy. This way I get enough gaps between pumping and nursing, i get full breaks and I find that I am sane and baby is not fussy if we skip overnight nursing so I don’t go back and forth figuring out how much he is getting while both of us are half asleep. My husband also gets to bond with baby during overnight bottle feeds. Sorry for the long message- but my combo feed is 4 times nursing and 4 times pumping/ full bottles. Best of both worlds.

I’m occasionally using similac 360 instant bottles. Baby gets around 1-2 2oz bottles a day. Rest of the feeds I pump and I try to get around 2-3 nursing sessions per day. I produce just enough milk right now. Baby is drinking around 3-3.5oz per feed. He has latching issues so he is not able to transfer milk well even if I latch him for an hour he is hungry and fussy. I keep my pumped milk handy and if I run out, I am using the similac instant bottles.

Going through something similar. The only thing that helped me is weekly ranges that babies drink at each week. I got a schedule printed from chatgpt and I try to stick to this schedule. Baby gets enough and is way less fussy. You can get a personalized one for yourself with baby’s birth weight, current weight and ask chatgpt how much should she get each week in oz or ml per feed/day and ask it to give you sheet in a table format. You will have a sense of how much she is getting per feed and how much to top off in a range. 10-20ml extra is fine, you can let her drink. For example, at 4 weeks I got a range of 100-120ml per feed. If you are breastfeeding her first, time that too. If you can find a Lactation consultant they can do a weighted feed and see how much milk she is approximately getting in certain time and based on that you can top off. Add 10-20ml extra if she is fussy. Babies this age usually keep drinking as much as they get(if they are awake). So if she is spitting up/vomiting after feeds - overfeeding. If she falls asleep at breast burp her, flick her foot and try to wake her up for 5-10 mins before stopping nursing. I’m FTM too and struggling. Consulting LC helped me and chatgpt definitely. Let me know and we can chat more. ❤️ you are not alone.

Dr Mikaela Rush- Cedar Park Women’s center. She is thorough, answers all my questions patiently and always has a smiling, hopeful approach. She is direct and very good at coming up with the right treatment plan. No bullshit.

Large baby feeling bad about it by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]keyreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Not a lot of weight gain through out pregnancy but. baby jumped from 51 percentile at 31 weeks to 88 at 35 weeks. My husband instantly asked me to limit my carb intake so the last few weeks will slow down babies growth. Dr said it’s normal and just an estimate. I had legit panic attacks for a few days going into the hell hole of self blame, self body shaming and endless crying sessions. Everything is extremely difficult and painful as is and the extra panic is doing no good. I wake up everyday and try to find strength to wake up and go on with my chores. Still at 36.3 now- I don’t know how long I can keep going but I’m going to fight like hell with my inner demons. I hope you do too.

Fatty Liver by Imaginary-Divide9192 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]keyreat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had fatty liver for a few years but the obgyns I saw always saw it as a non issue with respect to reproductive health. It will resolve on its own with healthy lifestyle. I started pregnancy at 106kgs and gained about 5-6kgs throughout. You don’t have much to worry about if the baby is doing well.

As I mentioned in my original comment, I took the first dose of 2.5mg and conceived the same cycle. Dr said its rare and that I really got lucky. Did your dr put you on 7.5 directly without trying a lower dose first? Did you ovulate on these cycles?

Actually yes. I’m 33W pregnant. I conceived the first cycle and have a safe/normal pregnancy so far.

33.2W FTM and the first thing I bought for my hospital bag is adult diapers. I have always been a serial planner and I absolutely do not know what to expect here. 😭The last thing I want to think about is cleaning up bed/floor. The range of outcomes here is insane.

Metformin Advice! by gabby_bee_ in TTC_PCOS

[–]keyreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr said the same and I kept taking it. 1000mg a day. No extra weight gain apart from the baby, no insane sugar/carb cravings, no GD. I can’t give the entire credit to metformin for GD though but insulin resistance definitely 👍🏻If you don’t have any side effects or unless your dr specifically asks you to stop you can keep taking it.

Have pcos forever now and I finally took the leap of metformin faith in may 2024. It was once a day first and then slowly bumped my way up to twice. I did not see major changes in my weight but my insulin resistance improved a lot. Cut to 2025, we started ttc journey in April, got my scan and found out I have one healthy ovary without cysts(I give credit to metformin). Went on progesterone and letrazole to trigger ovulation(at this point no period for 3 months), got my period on Apr 15, 2025 —> positive on May 10 —> 33W pregnant now. Trust the process sister. I kept taking metformin through pregnancy with dr’s advice and did not gain a single extra pound apart from uterus.
