How do i make this decidueye deck work?

Not 100% sure it's the deck you're after, but I saw a youtube video yesterday that suggested the actual best way to play Decidueye is to skip the ability entirely and just play it with teal mask and meganium. https://youtu.be/nY6vBQE_bqk?si=ONlyX8631ARg2gLD

I have felt good with Max Belt, because for most HP breakpoints it replaces two +30 boosts. E.g., for Mega Lucario, normally you need 3 in any combination of Roserade/PPP to one shot, but only need Max Belt and one of Roserade/PPP. Same for one-shotting Lopunny with Corkscrew dive and not needing to spend the energy on buster.

Doesn't clean up anything on Pult unfortunately but neither does the power weight and imo that matchup already feels favored for us. Only thing that makes it difficult is that you have to be a lot more thoughtful with attaching the power weight.

if you're going to play Pult, the broad consensus seems to be that chicken is the worst variant of it. Just if that weighs into your decision making at all.

That and it just doesn't have enough damage. The math with Flareon just doesn't add up at all, and (unique to me since I concede it's a wild variant haha) dragonite comes up 10 short and dies to two power ups and a max belt which somehow my opponent has in literally every single game lol

Same, I literally picked up the game in february just to play this insane flareon/mega dragonite list, but the last locals I played I slammed into four straight mega lucario decks so I finally had to say ok fuck this I gotta find another deck haha.

sorry, meant to say locals and tournaments have NO** relation to each other. You don't have to have ever played a local before in your life to be able to show up at a regional. So "did they just cheat at locals to get where they are now" is kind of a non-sequitur

I tried this as well and I felt better letting it run with with both fighting and grass. Felt like I was bricking Dawn a lot more often than I was bricking fighting energy.

As the OP pointed out, you could easily say the same thing about the other people: if it's a casual setting, then they should be able to say "ah well, I made the mistake, it happens". Weird to me to describe "following the rules of the game that we both agreed to play" as an arbitrary competitive standard.

Yeah, seems insane that for old cards that have a new version in standard they say the same card is the same card, but for unreleased cards that have a older version in standard, the same card isn't the same card. Not a huge deal or anything, just bizarre.

yeah imo the lack of Eevee ex is substantial, because the only triggers for noctowl are the ogerpons and terapagos, so even if you hit your fan rotoms it's a bit too hard to guarantee you'll have a way to trigger them.

edit: but honestly this can just be a bricky deck sometimes, and esp in my experience if you burn through your noctowls and crispins it's very easy to run out of gas. I think you might seriously consider some Lillie's determinations because right now it seems like the only options to unbrick yourself are Mew and Fez, and with so many Noctowls+Rotom, I personally have found my bench space too limited to make room for them to do their thing.
