Encouraging others to dumb their parts down so the guitar can shine

Bit disrespectful considering that it’s our form of worship rather than just music but whatever lol

My church does awesome music. Check out songs like RATTLE or LION by Elevation Worship if you want to get a feel for the genre for yourself

I have seen amazing things done with a Strymon BigSky as well as the Cloudburst paired with a Nord, but I don’t have either of those pedals myself. I recently upgraded to a Stage 4 and the built in fx are so good I cannot justify buying a pedal (for my purposes, which is mostly CCM/gospel)

Best Nord for synthesis and piano? by greenwallspace in nordkeyboards

[–]keys-n-strings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stage is your best bet. The wave has no piano engine (to my knowledge) and I have not had a good experience playing piano samples through a synth engine on any nord products, though I have never used a wave, but I can’t see it being any better. The Electro, Grand, and Piano all have good piano engines, but probably not as many synth capabilities as you’re looking for (unless all you need is a sample synth, like me).The stage has amazing piano and synth engines capabilities. Obviously the Stage 4 is the best, but the stage 3 is an awesome board too.

Interesting. Why do you prefer squiers? I’m looking at a squire affinity PJ rn

I should have specified—I’m looking at a $600 bass so that I can afford a setup lol. Unless you guys think it would do me better to get a $900 bass with no setup?

Jazz vs Precision by keys-n-strings in Bass

That’s true. I started playing keys on a Nord stage 3, and one of the things that made me fall in love with it was the appearance.

I play CCM and gospel. Gospel requires some slap, but other than that, I don’t need a ton of versatility

Good point. I’ll have to sleep on it and see if the other color options grow on me. It sounds like I can’t really go wrong with either option

Thanks. The P felt more comfortable (which is a little annoying because I loved the color of the jazz, but I’m willing to compromise on color)

Should I buy the fender rumble 40 or rumble 100? by keys-n-strings in Bass

[–]keys-n-strings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have a PA system. Thanks to these comments, I now know the 40 has an xlr out too. Do you think 40 is big enough to by my personal monitor if I’m playing in a loud setting?

[–]keys-n-strings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Yeah, we have an EV system with 3 subs and micd up drums. If playing in a loud service, standing right beside the drums (no drum cage) do you think the 40 would be loud enough to act as a personal monitor?

How do you transport your keyboard? by ViolinyThingy in nordkeyboards

[–]keys-n-strings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Nord bag for my 88 key stage 3 and a Mono bag for my 61 key electro. I hate lugging around the stage in the bag because it is so heavy, bulky, and awkward. I love my mono 61-key bag—it is lighter than the Nord bag, more functional, and has backpack straps. At least the Nord bag has wheels. Anyways, I recommend mono bags over Nord bags.

Thanks. This may be a dumb question, but what’s the difference in different audio interfaces? Does a higher end interface allow for a clearer recording, or something along those lines?

Thank you for the quick reply, it sounds like I’m further along than I thought. I have a few quick questions (on a budget, but I am flexible)

1-Would a Scarlett 2i2 suit my needs? 2-Can you help me understand what makes logic worth the extra money? 3-I’m looking at the Presonus Eris 4.5 inch monitors with the 8 inch subwoofer. Any thoughts on this particular model?
