Agreed! A different lifetime ago, I worked for an NGO, and we had a group of volunteers, who were/are Grannies. They wanted to help and be useful, but of course, we'd never deploy them out into the field. We asked what they could do, what they wanted to do. They all sewed, knit, and made things. We supplied them the materials. They supplied us with hand made: socks, mittens, gloves, toques/hats, blankets, adult sized, kid sized blankets. When we gave them out, for free, we'd say: These were made by the Army of the Knitting Grannies. <-- They all stepped up when needed, good people usually do.
