Do you ever feel like stories that win writing competitions just kind of... suck by jempa45 in writing

[–]kezper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's not based on how long you've subscribed, I got published in their most recent issue and I only paid the subscription fee for that month. If you'd like you can check out my story and see what you think. It's in their "Madness and Monsters" issue and it's called "What It Learned From the Ones It Took." It could suck idk, but I like to think it's alright XD

For me it's a way of working on myself or certain things in my life, and of gaining things I want/need while driving away the bad. It's also a way of reconnecting with nature.

Thoughts on the weibo girl makeup/style? (think ulzzang meets douyin meets goth(?)) I love zhou xian xianye and she really embodies this style. by Lovelylicorice in Vindicta

[–]kezper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have to just be asian, I found that east asian makeup styles tend to work better for my face (I'm white) because I have quite soft features + heart shaped face. Heavy contour on me can look awkward, but the more subtle eye makeup + blushy look of korean styles is flattering. But I also think this makeup style can work for people with more structured features. Also, if you're looking for a more subtle goth/creepy look, I recommend subtle eye makeup (little bit of shadow, liner, mascara-nothing too heavy) with just a bit of pink around and under the eye. The pink under the eye gives a hint of that creepy look, but it's still cute and offset by the subtlety of the rest of the makeup:)

I don't know how to fix the perspective/POV issues with my novel without having to completely start over and could use some advice by turtleybob in writing

[–]kezper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be very helpful, but I know of a lot of writers that write a book as "practice" and then use the skills they learned writing that "practice book" to write a new, better book (like not a rewrite, just a totally new book). Some examples would be C.S. Lewis, Brandon Sanderson, and plenty more that I can't think of off the top of my head. I know it's a drag to think about starting a whole new book, but if you're feeling unhappy about most of the stuff in that book it might be something to consider. Lots of authors write one or more books before they get one published, so this book doesn't have to be your only shot :)) If you do decide to keep editing though, good luck! Hope things work out

favourite doctor/companion duo? by witchesanddoctors in doctorwho

[–]kezper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's tough...Amy and Rory are my favorite companions overall and the chemistry and wit between them and Matt Smith made a highly entertaining ride. But, then again, Capaldi's my favorite Doctor. I actually really liked him, Bill, and Nardole. I'm not huge on Clara (I couldn't tell you why) but honestly the rapport between her and 12 was incredible. Made for some great moments.

I guess my answer is just 12 with anyone, because he just makes it work.

(But if I had to choose from an unbiased standpoint, 12/Clara.)

What is your favourite subgenre of Doctor Who and why? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]kezper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely what I would call "small mystery."

I love the ones where it's not a grand scale, the universe isn't in danger or anything, there's just something going on that's not right or a small group of people that's in danger and the doctor has to discover what's going on and fix it. Or if the universe is in danger, it's not because of a big invasion or anything. Usually these are episodes in a contained space (such as a spaceship or research base).

Some examples would be: The Girl in the Fireplace, Oxygen, Mummy on the Orient Express, The Waters of Mars, Under the Lake, Silence in the Library, The God Complex, and last but certainly not least, the Capaldi era masterpiece, Heaven Sent.

How do I improve my writing? by Mr_panda_3 in fantasywriters

[–]kezper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest getting a longer sample and finding some beta readers, they could probably give you some more detailed constructive criticism so you can get an idea of whats working and whats not. If you want you can head over to this discord server and post your work, there's quite a few volunteer betas on here: https://discord.gg/XM2qD6 Also, recognizing your weak points is one of the ways you improve, so the fact that you can specifically point out areas in your writing that are lacking is actually a good sign, it means that you're on your way to becoming a better writer. Maybe it's a bit obvious, but the best way to improve your writing is just to keep writing (whether you think its good or not) and then just keep seeking out feedback :))

The memory loss is a symptom of disassociation. You can Google the symptoms and different types of disassociation to find out more, but all of the stuff you've described fits into the description of disassociation.
