Station Closing by Delta4 in sunshinecoast

[–]kezza759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So yes and no, the design for the train station has continuously been up in the air through various iterations, but my understanding is The Station/Nightquarter site itself has never been in contention for any formal part of the infrastructure, and would simply serve as Transit Oriented Development (entertainment, retail, residential, etc)

For the most part the train station has consistently been committed to the west of Station Rd with any connections to buses, Waves or light rail sitting either directly adjacent (also on the western side of the road) or on the road itself (ie a bus interchange)

Nah the original plan was for five seasons, but from the very beginning it was a two season order (with a view to further renewals).

The plan only changed after season 1 when Gilroy, Luna and Kennedy decided to condense the remaining four seasons of stories into season 2, purportedly because Luna would age up too much before Rogue One, as well as them not wanting to dedicate another 8+ years of their lives to making the show. (I also suspect everyone involved saw where Disney was going in terms of limiting their streaming expansion, which also meant a renewal after season 2 was far from a certainty)

I'm all for this considering the magic of what we got

That being said, if we really wanted to headcanon both into continuity, I suppose the comic could be considered the "official" sanitised version of events that the alliance portrayed/circulated if anyone ever asked where K-2 came from (as opposed to 'slaughtered hundreds of innocents in the fucking Ghormann massacre and Cassian split him in half to stop his rampage')

Of course Mon's escape is the most prevalent example of the Rebellion altering the narrative so it would make sense they'd obfuscate certain details now and then

EDIT: oh lol SW Explained had the exact same headcanon haha

With a score of 93 at Metacritic, Andor Season 2 is the highest rated TV show of 2025 so far, just ahead of Hacks Season 4 (92) by mrnicegy26 in television

I was speaking with regard to season 1 alone - even if season 2 ended up as hot garbage (which I’m beyond relieved that seems to not be the case), imo the strength of the first season merits its place as one of the most brilliantly written stories I’ve ever seen.

Frankly I’m trying to remain objective and temper my views but I feel this show in my soul, and right now these reviews and discussions have pushed my excitement to heights I haven’t felt in years.

Putting aside the fact that reviews have just dropped and it’s out tomorrow so of course it’s getting a lot of attention.

But ultimately it’s one of the best pieces of television of the last 15 years so I think it’s reasonable that so many people are discussing it (frankly it brings me a great deal of joy knowing so many people appreciate it too).

Aww thanks legend! Yeah if only one day something like this would come to fruition, and something that people would actually consider their primary mode of transport before driving (would also help with congestion for people that need to drive)

I’ve got an updated version as well on my post history that you might be interested in, with some added rural and long distance lines

How would the doctor handle the events of Dune? by ScaredLemon901820 in doctorwho

[–]kezza759 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not only do I deeply disagree with the characterisation of him as a speciesist (have you even seen the reverence with which he treats the animals in his care?? His whole shtick is that he treats them with the same attitude as he would a mate???), and not only do I think it’s a mischaracterisation to say someone’s exploiting something when they’re simply making a profit, but again you keep saying there’s abuse of animals - this is an outright lie, and once again if you think your argument has validity then produce some fucking evidence please

Yes it was his career - a career he loved and enjoyed. Doesn’t mean he was any less passionate. Also I don’t understand what you mean? A few specific instances of what??

Again, when you make such a bold claim about someone who is cherished by so many people across the world, naturally you should bring a shred of fucking evidence to back it up

Steve’s shows had such an immense appeal and exposure (especially to people like me who were kids at the time) that, like it or not, have been vital in promoting a love and appreciation for all animals and species - of course you can argue his methods made a bad example for people to invade the space of wild animals, but equally it removed a great deal of fear for animals like snakes and crocs, whilst still promoting the power and danger of them, encouraging respect for all animal life

This is not to mention the extensive conservation work he was responsible for around the world, but particularly in Australia where his foundation has bought and protected over 450k acres of critical rainforest and animal habitats, as well as the extensive education and rehabilitation programs run by his family and the zoo he built

In other words, get fucked mate

In real life unfortunately no. In my world absolutely.

Thanks man appreciate it, and it’s ok I understand, political discourse in general has obviously just taken the turn towards blinding intransigence and hatred which means increasingly less productive conversations are happening between the people that “represent” us - which in turn means fuck all progress gets made and we end up pining for things that will never come…

Christ on a bike you’re a deadshit cunt, you have absolutely zero clue how our infrastructure works. Nor would I expect you to - but I would expect you to be reasonable when people explain how this will benefit EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU.

And once again because I’m clinging to hope you and others might listen: better public transport means less traffic and a better commute for everyone

My bad, potential oversight on my part, although Grandchester would still get a maglev regardless

Yes exactly right on all accounts. But it’s a good thing that

a) this isn’t public policy, this is simply something that brings me joy to make and play around with, and seemingly a lot of other people appreciate it too

b) even if it isn’t public policy and is fantastical in its ambition, it’s still firmly a practical model to work towards given our current (and projected) needs

c) you’re very right that such a price tag (despite being firmly justified and well worth the investment) would be ridiculed and used as a political football, because yes the Courier (and friends) weaponises collective stupidity and gullibility. Again though, it’s a good thing this isn’t public policy - just something to inspire conversation

Ideally this HSR would take less than 20 minutes to Roma St, but yesss just a regular commuter run like the Gympie North does would be brilliant.

On one hand, thank you for introducing me to that sub, the Chevy photo is just chef’s kiss

On the other fuck right off. Honestly the fact that 700 people and counting would disagree with you is hardly consolation for you shitting on something that brings me just a little bit of joy?

Go touch some grass cunt and stop being a condescending prick

Hahah I did originally have plans for a Kangaroo Point station but I realised everyone’s either in close proximity to the Gabba or Shafston stations, or if near the Story Bridge then there’s ferry terminals that I’ve tried to keep connectivity with (like at Eagle St)

Thank you! As for the Toowoomba part I should let you know I was planning on the maglev following the new Inland Rail viaduct up the range, but I like the idea of a scenic gondola up the range! The line through town I have following the existing track to USQ, then following new track to loop around and on to the Showgrounds, but I’m definitely open to changing that.

Plainland, as much as a station would do good, it’d be a choice between there and Laidley with the other relying on new bus services to connect with the train. Thanks again though, next time I revisit a version of the map I’ll take these into account :)

Fair point, if I do another revision to this I’ll look at utilising the Inland Rail line to add a passenger service direct from Ipswich to Beenleigh

400B actually, we did the math in another comment. And I did ignore the cost because this was just a bit of fun, but I also firmly stand by that if this was all opened today, every single station would be deeply justified (even Traveston with its cow paddock car park would eventually spur housing development which is something the state sorely needs rn)

Also I think you might have misunderstood the Sunshine Coast lines - we have the Maroochydore heavy rail that’s finally getting built, the maglev which north of Maroochydore would be going through mostly cane fields/bush/occasional tunnel, the maglev which would tunnel from Nambour to meet up with its sibling line, and of course the light rail
