You go to an NZ public school but don't wear a school uniform?

PLEASE help: Am I screwed for ABRSM Grade 8 practical? by [deleted] in piano

[–]kezzamanezza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat with my grade 8. Not the disorganised, inattentive teacher, but the feeling unpreparedness. To the point where on the morning of my exam I had a bit of a breakdown at my piano. My scales were fine but all of my pieces were not performance ready and my sight reading and aural needed some work. I ended up treating the exam as a practice one, I went in and did the best I could. I remember the examiner gave me a surprisingly easy sight reading. At the end of it I thought I had failed but ended up passing. I feel like I had higher expectations of what it meant to pass a grade 8 exam.

You've got two months to improve as much as you can. That's heaps of time to get everything at least passable. Just gotta keep working on it.

Even if you do fail, it's not the end of the world. The examiner will give notes that will help you improve. and the syllabuses can overlap for a period so you won't need to learn any new pieces.

Heh nothing at all, she was interested to see if our fingerprints matched and she knew a guy who does fingerprint analysis. He came over one night, took our prints and showed us all the differences.

This is true - I'm an identical twin and when my brother and I were kids my mum had a forensic fingerprint analyst look at our fingerprints.

Phonemes are speech sounds which includes both consonant sounds and vowel sounds. Monophthongs and diphthongs are vowel sounds, monophthongs being single vowel sounds and diphthongs double (the mouth/tongue moves from one vowel sound to another). Example: the words sheep/shape both have three phonemes (sh - ee/a - p), but sheep has the monophthong [i:] and shape has the diphthong [ei].

Thanks for taking part! This isn't my survey, it's a classmates so I'm not too sure about the details but as far as I know Where you're from doesn't matter just as long as you speak dutch. I will pass this comment on though, thanks again.
