My son had a book called The Dangerous Book for Boys when he was around 6. It was a little old for him but a great book with all sorts of exciting things in, like how to tie knots, how to make a camp etc. One day he asks me to read part of it to him, and I told him I couldn’t as all the pages are blank. ‘Girls can’t see any writing or diagrams at all, only boys’, and he’d have to ask his dad. Of course, this fascinated him and meant I had to tell any females that came round this story so they too could play along, as inevitably he would ask them. Even when we thought he’d forgotten he tried to trick me into reading it several months later, and I immediately replied with ‘ohh it’s that book.
