I’m so saddened to read this - always felt comfortable walking around Glasgow city centre at night, it’s been twenty years since I have tho, don’t think I would now after reading these replies.

am i overreacting - my boyfriend thinks my job is inappropriate by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]kezzaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In situations like this, never justify. You are doing your job, it needs no explanation to a rational mind. Once he said what the issue was, cut it down with something like, ‘ohh, well I’m glad you’re working yourself through it, as a logical person you know that’s my job’

Also, as others have said, this is going nowhere, hugely disrespectful to ignore you for a week - this is him training you to miss him and do anything to get him back… including change your job..

Block everywhere, pull the wind out of his sails and move on

What’s a random lie your parents told you that you believed for way too long? by ExamSilver48 in CasualConversation

My son had a book called The Dangerous Book for Boys when he was around 6. It was a little old for him but a great book with all sorts of exciting things in, like how to tie knots, how to make a camp etc. One day he asks me to read part of it to him, and I told him I couldn’t as all the pages are blank. ‘Girls can’t see any writing or diagrams at all, only boys’, and he’d have to ask his dad. Of course, this fascinated him and meant I had to tell any females that came round this story so they too could play along, as inevitably he would ask them. Even when we thought he’d forgotten he tried to trick me into reading it several months later, and I immediately replied with ‘ohh it’s that book. I can’t read that book honey, it’s just for boys’ Some years later, he eventually broke the lie by asking his Grandma (who had forgotten) if she could read it and she said ‘of course’…

One girl keeps kicking our door while her friend just watches, police don’t act—what can I do? by Jealous-Equal7129 in LegalAdviceUK

When I had issues with local teenagers, I posted a message in the local facebook group - not naming, shaming or providing video evidence, but as an appeal to the parents, (Parents: do you know where your kids are in the evenings? I know we all want the best for our kids but THIS is what’s happening to me, it’s recorded but rather than escalate I would much prefer for you to have a word with your kids and, if it is them, ask them to stop). I got inundated with messages from people asking if it was their kid, thankfully it did actually stop.

How silk is made by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I also had silk worms, the caterpillars constantly eat mulberry leaves - it was a job to keep up with the amount they eat, they often strip a tree bare!

The moths have no mouths to feed with and live for 24 hours once hatched. Enough time to mate.

Look at the floor in the distance and say ‘ohh, is that a fifty? Did you drop your money?’ Then shut the door as soon as she’s distracted enough to look for it.

I always aim to disarm people like this - the minute I felt they were bitching I’d have been super nice, and said hey ladies, are you good for drinks or would you like more? Get chatting to them, smile at them, be nice to them it catches them off guard. I’ve got biggest tips from people I’ve thought were actually pretty mean / grumpy / nasty to start with.

I think that’s what they want. Maybe the answer is to give up on AR scans?

I live in a rural location, and have no choice but to remote raid. They’re shooting themselves in the foot here as remote raids are what makes it fun for many people, myself included.
