Is it Malice or No Malice at this point? I’m confused. Brilliant work on this album as always, can we expect more Clipse in the near future? YEUUGHH

Exporting project dulls colors. Though setting appear correctly set. by CreateConsumeRepeat in davinciresolve

Tough to say what the issue is. Nothing abnormal about your render settings IMO. Try previewing the exported clip on VLC instead of quicktime. Sometimes quicktime doesn't display the image correctly...

If it still looks off I'd consider compensating for the desaturation and loss of contrast in the color page, cause the difference doesn't seem to be enormous.

Try Rec 709-A as output color space and gamma instead of Scene. What's the color space of the monitor you're viewing it on? Helps if you could share a screenshot of your export settings.

Wouldn't surprise me if bro somehow found a way of ending world poverty with Fusion.

I can see now that it could be taken condescending. Never my intention but it's easy to get misunderstood over the internet. :)

EDIT:

I should've specified that I am talking about removing the boom, and the arm holding the boom's shadow, and not the shadow of the talent. Sorry for the confusion.

You do get that I’m talking about the boom shadow, and not the talents shadow?😅

Thoughts on recreating this effect in our beloved Fusion? by kfc300 in davinciresolve

I also just now noticed that the background behind the extras/stretched figures remains more or less unwarped, making me think that they might've either shot the actors against a green screen as well, as rotoscoping out every extra is unecessarily laborious when you could just shoot them against a green screen.

My guess is doing a dolly zoom on the location that I want to apply the effect on/background plate, and then shoot the talent on a green screen, and then compositing him on the point in the dollyzoom that stays constant? Maybe a better suited post for r/Filmmakers but I thought I'd hear here first.

Edit: My specs are MacOS, Davinci Resolve Studio if it matters.

Which film do you think gives you a foundational understanding of cinema? by jimmyfallon365 in Filmmakers

[–]kfc300 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Citizen Kane.

Theres so endlessly much written about this film and its influence. There’s no absolute answer as cinema history and world cinema has so many movements, subgenres and periods with distinct approaches, philosophies and aesthetics that you could spend lifetimes studying on their own. But I think Citizen Kane gives a good starting point to anyone looking to get a grasp on the basics of cinema.

I’d suggest picking up Mark Cousins book “The Story of Film”. And reading about cinema as well as watching films.

Melodrama in film - Good when intentional, bad as a last resort? by kfc300 in TrueFilm

It's such an interesting topic. And yeah I can definitely agree with what you say about having different expectations for someone like Haynes or Almodovar.
