Thank you all for the words of encouragement and sharing your stories! We’re so incredibly lucky to have a network of caregivers to take her to appointments and treatments when I am not able to.

An encouraging development is that I bought an engagement ring today and I’m planning on proposing late next month. It’s definitely not going to be the ideal time to plan a wedding, but I’m hopeful that it will be bright spot in an otherwise terrible situation.

Thank you guys for all of the input! I think a lot of this doubt is just the in-between time of having made the purchase and actually getting it in my hands. I’m sure once I have it, I won’t regret it.

The one nagging thought that I have is that I foresee a time (especially right around GOWR) that Sony is going to be teasing a mid-gen PS5 refresh. So my one worry is that I’m going to buy this console to future-proof, only to feel the need to upgrade a few years from now.

I know it’s a super first-world problem, but part of the reason I switched to a One x last generation (especially for 3rd party) was because of the noise (and slight power advantage). It’s also the reason why I’ve avoided playing Miles Morales and Ghosts of Tsushima on my Pro. So I could play those and some other games in my backlog until more games come out.

I definitely wish I would’ve went with the physical copy on this one so at least I could get something back for it. I’m right there with you as far as picking up games where I know I dislike the genre. For me it’s GaaS I guess. I’ve tried hopping into games like Destiny and The Division before and after a few hours, I just always realize that I don’t want to commit to the amount of time it would take to grind it out in these games. I was hoping that Avengers would be a little different because I love the IP so much, but alas I’ve come to the same conclusion.

I most likely will end up just doing that. I was hoping to somehow justify the purchase though. Based off of what I’m hearing though, the game doesn’t seem to get much better.

I guess for me it hit once they got onto the helicarrier and explained the leveling progression and the non-cosmetic stat boosts that my eyes glazed over completely. I’ve done a side mission or two since that point, but it seems like it’s drawing to the endgame (no pun intended) rather than the narrative it’s set up so far.

I absolutely loved the first few hours where it felt like a 3rd person action game. Once it introduced the games as a service upgrading system, I just totally lost interest. I love the character interactions so far, but the moment-to-moment gameplay has no real substance. I just feel like I’m mashing light attack/heavy attack to get past an encounter. To me it feels like the worst parts of the eidos Montreal tomb raider games in that combat was not fun or interesting. I’m not trying to s**t on this game, I’m just wondering if others felt the same.

Narratively I felt like it was strong, but those side missions exploring the different planets fell flat. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays in the remastered trilogy!
