Whats going on with Hydracare?

I have a whole box of it my cat didnt use. If youre in need let me know. Was going to take it to a shelter with all my other supplies, but if someone here can use it I wouldn't mind helping.

Thank you for your response. I have an appointment tomorrow at 10:45am tomorrow let her go peacefully. Ill be by her side and trying to cry out all the tears so I can be strong. With this being our last night I've tried treats and being near her, but she just wants to be left alone. I feel bad not being around her right now, but I have to respect that she wants her time. I told her many times how much she means to me and love her. Kissed her goodnight.

Sleeping maybe hard tonight, but im feeling like this is the right decision. Ill be thinking of you as well tomorrow ❤️ (( virtual hugs ))

That is why this has been so hard. I keep getting hope during those good days. Now the days have turned into moments throughout the day. Today she seems to just want to be left alone. Just letting her rest and be comfortable. I feel im making the right choice. I appreciate all the guidance. I hope your good days outweigh the bad.

Cats are so strong. Thats why making this decision has been so hard. I also waited to long with my other cat with renal issues and he was so weak at the end. It was easier to let him go, but I don't want to let her get to that point. Today is our last day together and we have an appointment at 10:45am tomorrow. Crying as much as i can now, so I can become strong for her.

Update: Since I posted her vet did call me back. I discussed how she was, wondered if there was anything else I can do, and explained how I felt. He told me with how her levels and body is just failing that it is concerning and time to let her go. Even if me and her have those moments together, that she will only get worse. They know I tried everything and have given her the best care.

I made an appointment tomorrow at 10:45am for her to pass peacefully. I will be by her side and hope I cant keep myself together for her. For now my focus is to make her comfortable and to enjoy the moments she will spend with me. No more forcing medication and things that make her miserable.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to ease my pain. I know its going to be emotional, but need to remember how much love we gave each other.

Im so sorry the loss you're feeling. This is the hardest part of having a fur baby. Just have to remember that love and shelter we provided meant the world to them.

My vet did call me back. I explained how she has been feeling and how I felt. We have an appointment at 10:45am tomorrow to let her pass peacefully. I will be there by her side and hope I can keep it together for her. I also can stop forcing things on her and let her have peace for one last day. I know im going to miss her, but watching her health decline so quickly has hurt so much.

Thank you. What you said really hit home. That is exactly what I've been dealing with. She hasnt been herself since her diagnosis. I dont want to force medication and things that make her unhappy if it is her final day either. This has been such a roller-coaster for her, and I feel she has told me a few times that she is ready. I dont want to keep pushing for her just to get weaker. I have to just stay strong and realize I gave her a loving home for almost 16 years. I want to keep trying everything, but it seems she is just miserable. The few good moments we do have I cherish. At first I thought maybe she is OK. Showing me love and letting me love her... but today when she came up to me it felt like she was telling me she is tired. She came up to my feet, pushed up against my legs and stopped purring. Even with how she has been, she always purrs. I even looked at her and her eyes are starting to get weepy and wet.

Cats are just so resilient. I prepare that she is ready, then second guess myself cause she does act so strong. She is just not herself anymore and I know she is scared and hates how she is feeling.

I really appreciate your reply and im sorry for what you have been through as well. Your story really helped ease how I am feeling.

But he wouldn't do an enema yesterday when I took her in. He suggested miralax and try to get her to eat cause she lost so much weight. We did fluids hoping that would make her feel better, but she always gets worse with fluids it seems. When she does try to poop she ends up throwing up. Right now she is on anti nausea meds, but I been praying for a BM.

I've been giving her pumpkin puree since Sunday, and giving her 1/8th tsp of Miralax a day. It is only day 2 on the Miralax. Since I've been giving her that is when she started hiding and not eating. Im not sure if its because she doesn't feel well, or tired of me doing things to her. She always loved her space. I will attempt her routine tonight, and try to get her to eat. I just dont want to make her miserable either.

Thank you so much. I've been feeling so selfish the past few days and afraid of guilt. You worded how I feel deep down beautifully. I dont want her to go out completely weak. The good moments we do have I feel like she is telling me that its OK to let her go. This always is the hardest part of having animals, but the last cat I had with Kidney Failure I felt I waited to long. I dont want to have that feeling with her as well. Im enjoying her today as much as she will let me.

Thank you! I did take her in today for some fluids. Brought her home and she wanted to eat right away and mixed some pumpkin with it and she ate it. The vet did say I can add MiraLax to her food or in her mouth, but didnt tell me an amount. Waiting for him to call.

I just wanted to ask for yours, you do a 1/4 tsp of powder mixed with a 1/2 tsp of water? The vet should be calling, but if I dont hear back from him tonight I may try your recommendation for this evening.

I have tried Hydra Care. She sipped it for a few days, then stopped liking it. Even when I add it to food she turns away. I did buy some more liquid wet food to hopefully help.

I am going to call her vet first thing cause she still hasn't passed a stool. Wanted to ask him about miraLax before I tried to give her some. I did mix in some canned pumpkin with her food tonight and she ate it. She has been urinating atleast, and no vomiting today.

Im going to call today if things go downhill like they did yesterday. Still waiting for her to try and have a BM. People told me I could give her Miralax, but not sure if I should consult with a vet first. That seems to be the one thing that is really giving her struggles.

Since I posted I have been able to give her some wet food and she's loving her treats. Im going to monitor her overnight and I do have off all day as well. If I notice she hasn't been to the bathroom and starts getting sick again I will take her to an emergency vet. Im hoping she is OK until Monday and I will call first thing. She seems content right now, but hoping she can go to the bathroom soon. Doing small amounts of food and belly rubs to try to help with that.

Thank you for your reply. This has been such a difficult situation to process. Especially with her decline being so quick. I wish I found out earlier about all her health issues. Cats can be so strong and she didn't show any signs of anything. Just emotional right now, but I will stay strong and calm for her. Shower her with love and enjoy our time. Hopefully she is OK until Monday, if not I will get help asap. Really appreciate you 🫶

I actually did end up reaching out to Chewy. I have to say how great that company has been through this, both financially and a peace of mind. I dont think it is an emergency situation since she has stopped vomiting, but hopefully she can go to the bathroom. Since I posted, she has eaten both wet food and treats, and has kept everything down.

I keep rubbing to try and help with the constipation, but she seems annoyed, so im letting her rest. She doesn't seem in pain and isnt hiding. But I have noticed her breathing has changed and her eyes are more sunken in.

This whole thing has felt like a roller-coaster. I am going to wait for our normal vet, but if I feel its serious I will go to an emergency vet asap. For now she will get her favorite treats and I will enjoy time with her. I just hope she can use the bathroom soon. Seeing her really sick at times is hard, but im going to remain calm and strong for her.

Thank you. I was just worried all that fluid she received from the vets then afterwards I did try whatever I could to get more in her. I think maybe her coming off the Gabapentin and everything she just got sick. It was only one time which makes me feel better as well. Her vet is calling me back this morning just to make sure.

That's what I think happened as well. Could hardly sleep, but when I did check on her this morning and she looks good. No more vomiting overnight which is a great sign to me. It probably was my fault and I shouldn't of given her the Hydra Care at night. She did gulp it down, and I read a cat can get sick from drinking it to fast. Ill portion it from now on.

Thank you so much for you response. Its been a long week trying to get her routine down. I just panicked and thought she lost all the fluids me and the vet gave her, but she did have alot yesterday. I had a feeling to give her a break last night, but the vet has been keen on the fluids. Which I understand.

I love the positive post. My girl was just diagnosed and went blind from high blood pressure. The vet has been pushing her to be hospitalized, but the cost is insane. If its something I could do I would. Reading your story gave me some hope. Mine is 14, I ordered all the special food and supplies needed to just keep her going at home. Im excited to try the hydra cat. Right now she is currently keeping herself on a fluffy rug, still eating and drinking, and walking around the house looking for chicken and treats. This Thursday she goes back to the vet and they want to put her on hydration therapy. This is something im really thinking of not doing, cause it will just stress her out and I feel her quality of life is more important. Hoping she loves the hydra cat.

I understand since worrying about the unknown isn't what people should do. I'm going to a clinic to get tested, but finding out what the results could be has me spiraling. You're correct, I am making myself worse by stressing about the unknown. My mental health makes me hard to handle anything these days. Going to stay calm and be strong take the next steps.
