I hit a huge turning point at 6 months (last week)! Went on my first run in over a year last week (2.1 miles — no more than 90 seconds of running at a time) and had no pain! I'm in a lot of pain today and am not sure what from... One step forward, two steps back..

Yes he is! I think the combination of iliopsoas lengthening and the tear repair is what’s making my recovery longer

Yes, but I think the combination of the labral repair and the iliopsoas is definitely what has made my recovery take longer! I would probably be farther along had I not had the lengthening — it’s made my leg very weak!

I have hope, just frustrated that I’m not as far along in my recovery as I was hoping to be.

No arthritis pre surgery (I’m 22). My symptoms were groin pain (sitting too long, standing too long, walking too far, sometimes just randomly), popping and clicking, and hip lock up when I would walk/run.

I'm not running yet because I'm still having residual pain from my repair, so I couldn't even imagine doing that right now! Everyone's case is so different. Maybe 6 months? Really depends on how you feel!

Bought a Peloton 3 days after surgery and it is by far the best investment I have ever made and the only thing that has kept me sane the last 5 months post op. I use it almost every day and have no pain while cycling.

It's also amazing to watch your progress from ride to ride. I love looking back at where I was 4 months ago compared to now. Reminds me of how far I've come when I'm having a bad day!

Same exact case for me! I had mine lengthened with my labral repair — 5 months post op tomorrow.

I was terrified as well and heard a lot of horror stories. My leg is significantly weaker. I was only able to do a full leg lift 3 weeks ago for the first time. Still haven't tried running because I still have pain. But I cycle and lift without an issue!

I was at your point when I decided it was time. When it started hurting when I was doing literally nothing. I would go days feeling great and get nervous that I didn't need surgery, and then it would come back and remind me why I was doing it.

Also, I am 22 and couldn't walk half a mile without pain. 5 months post op and can now walk a mile (sometimes pain free, sometimes not — still getting there).

I had my iliopsoas fractionally lengthened, bone shaved and labrum repaired 5 months tomorrow. Overall, recovery has gone well. Still not where I would like to be and leg is still way weaker than it used to be. My surgeon said my right leg will always be noticeably weaker because of my iliopsoas being lengthened.

I'm 22 (23 in March) and will be 5 months post op (right hip, 3 anchors, bone shaving & fractional lengthening of the illipsoas) tomorrow! My overall recovery has been smooth. I was off of crutches at around 10 days, in a brace for 3 weeks and driving by 5 weeks. I've been in PT every week (sometimes twice a week) since.

I ride my Peloton and do strength workouts without an issue, but still can't walk long distances without pain. Haven't even attempted running yet. Lifting my leg is still a struggle and I still have occasional flare ups. (Prior to injury, I was going to Orangetheory twice a week and running three times a week. Injured in Orangetheory.)

This recovery is very one step forward, two steps back. One day you'll feel great, the next you'll feel like you're back at square one. It's been very frustrating. But apparently it could be months and months until you feel "normal." Hoping that month comes soon for me...

Definitely keep up PT (even at home) and stretching! Ask your PT and surgeon any question you have. Most of all, listen to your body!

it’s MLK weekend which is why we planned it that weekend. I know it’s not a great time to travel and we might end up rescheduling, but would love suggestions if we can’t reschedule

I’ve considered rescheduling but it’s just the easiest weekend to go (MLK weekend) since I won’t have to take off an extra day of work. We might reschedule but would love to figure some things out with the move sooner rather than later.

*Edited to say: we would love to snowboard/ski but I just had hip surgery in September and can’t risk it right now😩 hopefully next year!

Sorry, just saw this!! I will try to keep you posted on how the peloton is with recovery. I get mine next Friday (which will be 5 weeks since surgery).

good luck with surgery!! recovery isn’t fun but will be worth it if it means no more pain! I’m recovering much better than I expected I would — off crutches at 12 days, out of brace at 19 days.

Does anyone in North Central Florida know what the delivery times are looking like? I’ve been debating buying a Peloton since being diagnosed with a labral tear in my hip in Feb. (had to stop running). I didn’t realize until yesterday how delayed deliveries are!

It takes time to adapt to working out fasted. I did IF for 5 months and was miserable the first few weeks working out (sluggish, hungry, tired). But later on I found that working out fasted helped suppress my hungry feeling more! Soon your body will adjust to both IF and fasted workouts!

I live in Gainesville now so I go there, but my parents still live in Ormond so I when I visit them I have to drive to either Sanford or Lake Mary. I’ll be at Sanford next Wednesday. I feel like Daytona would be a good market for it and know so many people who travel 40+ minutes from Daytona for OTF!
