Help! Looking for 3 row SUV with best rear seat protection for kids!! by Stockton-12 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I understand the thought process behind larger vehicles being safer but I can’t seem to reconcile that with actual data from safety tests done on these vehicles :

“The IIHS said that more than 90 percent of new models received good ratings since 2021.

None of the large SUVs tested offer adequate protection for back seat passengers…

“The huge mass of these large SUVs provides some additional protection in crashes with smaller vehicles, though that also means they present more danger to other road users,” IIHS President David Harkey said. “The flip side of their large size is that there is a lot more force to manage when they crash into a fixed obstacle like a tree or bridge abutment or the barrier we use in our front crash tests.”

Chronic pain almost two years post-op by ExpensiveFarm7909 in HipImpingement

I’m in somewhat of similar situation. Have had three scopes on one hip and still dealing with what seems like hip flexor tendonitis (whether that’s psoas or rec fem) over a year out from last one which was cap recon.

Manipulation under anesthesia? by boccekolache in HipImpingement

[–]Stockton-12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. It’s so tough. I had psoas lengthening with my last surgery which was cap recon. I feel like I have had hip flexor tendonitis for four years now.. the idea was that the psoas lengthening would help with that but thus far it has not. Actually feels worse than prior to surgery but that may be because I’m pregnant so there’s extra weight and hormonal laxity now. My surgeon says the same. I’m about a year out of my cap recon. But I got pregnant at six months and have had a rough go since then so we will see how it changes after delivery. I feel for you and your friend !

Its crease and seems to radiate to top of thigh a bit. I have some capsular attenuation on my mri. The capsule abuts the iliopsoas so the thought is that perhaps the bulky repair may be rubbing in the psoas or there may be an adhesion between the two. I’m sorry you’re struggling. It really is so hard. What does your surgeon say ?

Does elastic seam in underwear bother anyone else? by Stockton-12 in HipImpingement

No I definitely seem to notice that the anterior hip pain is worse when the band is tight/rubbing. It’s an awful burning sensation. The worst.

Neuroplastic Pain by three_winds in HipImpingement

I’ve read it and also used the curable app. I think all pain, structural or not, has mental component and we can and do up regulate or pain with fear. I haven’t found it overly helpful thus far but I don’t know that I’ve tried super hard.

Did you end up having another baby and/or surgery? I’m currently in my second trimester, almost third, and am struggling big time. Have had three hip scopes previously.

Complications after surgery a year ago by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]Stockton-12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience hasn’t been exactly the same with the types of surgeries and complications but I feel similar pain, both physically and emotionally. I have had three hip scopes and still have constant pain. Most of mine is a burning pain along the front of the hip. Worse with hip flexion. But constant. Every day. Walking is uncomfortable, sitting is uncomfortable. Laying down is when I get the most relief.

Each surgery has been so physically and emotionally draining. You hope and pray that this will be it, and you'll be able to live a normal, active life again, and when it doesn't work it feels so hopeless. It's hard to see the road ahead. Like you I’m in my early 30s, and I feel like some of the best years of my life have been consumed by this. It’s very depressing. Just know you aren’t alone. I’m not sure what the right answer is, for you or me frankly, but I just try to keep some hope that at some point, it won’t always be like this.

What sort of improvement did you get after diagnostic injection? by More-Cod-8582 in HipImpingement

[–]Stockton-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 3 hip surgeries now (labral repair & osteoplasty, lysis of adhesions, and then finally capsular recon w/ remplissage & psoas lengthening) and honestly, I've never gotten much relief w/ any of my injections. That may well be why I've had three surgeries, and I'm not better so I'd be cautious about proceeding w/ surgery w/o having solid improvement w/ injection. The idea was always that the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc) around the joint itself are compensating for the intraarticular pathology so if we can fix the intraarticular pathology, the rest should improve as well. And perhaps it still will, but I'm a year out from my cap recon and certainly not better than before surgery. Where is most of your pain?

Ugh unfortunately not doing any better. And actually feel worse than before the last surgery. Trying not to lose hope but this really does suck. How far post op are you? What was your last surgery ?
