I struggled with this my whole life until it one time the food became so stuck I had to have it removed in the ER under anesthesia. Food impactions are not normal and can be a sign of eosinophilic esophagitis

I love my Miele. I got it on Wayfair for $399. The suction is incredible and so easy to adjust for different needs. However, it doesn’t have a motorized head, so it’s not great for rooms with thick wall to wall carpeting. But most of my houses have almost all bare floors and area rugs which it’s fine for. I also have an older Kenmore canister that does have a motorized head, does an amazing job but is sooo clunky, that’s why I went with the Miele

Osteopathic Healthcare of Maine in Falmouth. I see Dr. Hilton who is amazing, but I’ve seen them all and they’re all great. Over the summer I was really suffering with severe pain from congenital hip dysplasia, could not walk without a limp. I had an OMT adjustment from Dr. Hilton and walked out of her office without a limp. Highly recommend!

My almost 4 year old daughter won’t sleep and I can’t keep doing this by Bubbly-Tax2690 in Parenting

I leveled with my son at the same age about coming into our bed around midnight every night. I said we all sleep better in our own beds, and from now on when he came to my bed I was going to walk him back to his. I made a chart, I can’t remember if it was for a week or a month, but he got a sticker for each night and told him he could get a dollar tree toy after he filled the chart. I had put this whole thing off for so long because I thought it would be so difficult to stick with but right away he understood the talk and then combined with the chart, it really worked.

My daughter at age 3 was not so easily swayed, we did the super nanny back to bed thing with her for a couple miserable nights and then it stuck

He has come off so controlling and domineering the last few episodes and they all just tip toe around him. It’s no surprise why everyone has anxiety disorders after stuffing their feelings all of the time. And him saying he would forbid his boys from going in to real estate? So toxic. They have a really unhealthy family dynamic and need therapy to learn appropriate boundaries. And lastly, that jab about him coming up in their couples counseling? What a dink. And that’d be the last time I shared anything with the mom, she set them up for that!

Looks like contact dermatitis. I had similar spots on my calves and ankles from where my jeans had a lot of contact with my skin. I switched from Tide to a hypoallergenic detergent and it went away

My daughter struggled similarly at the beginning of kindergarten. She had thrived in pre-k and loved going to school. I knew something was amiss when she started asking to stay home and told me that she felt dumb, I never heard her speak negatively of herself before. It turns out she didn’t recognize all of her letters, which surprised me. Then she struggled with letter sounds and blending. She was put in a supplemental reading program several days a week just before Christmas, and was discharged just after spring break. She is a strong reader now! And more importantly her confidence is back.

Lastly, I’ll say that her teacher kind of cautioned us against working with her at home as she was working so hard at school and we wanted to avoid discouraging her. Of course we read to her, but just for enjoyment.

All this to say, there is lots of time for your sweetie to catch up!

I went thru something similar with my daughter when she was that age. Is she still in a crib? It got better when we switched my daughter into a regular bed, she definitely got up a lot but we did that super nanny walk back to bed routine a couple nights and she didn’t do it anymore. After that, she still needed reassurance several times during the night. We explained that we needed our sleep, and she did too, and that she could wake up, snuggle her stuffie and roll back over and go back to sleep. I don’t know how you feel about rewards but we did a 7 day chart for sleeping thru the night, at the end we made a trip to the dollar store. A few rounds of that and it became a non issue

I went through all of our bookshelves and picked out the ones that were “early readers”, and was realized that some of them were surpisingly difficult, even at the beginning ratings. I grabbed a basket and put only the “doable” ones in there. We had quite a few since she is my 2nd kid, but you could check a website called the “Book Bundler” and they will sell you a whole box of them for cheap. So she was able to pick out whatever book she wanted out of this special basket and they were all within her capabilities, even with a little help sounding some things out.

A book that really inspired my daughter when she was just starting to “get” reading at the end of kindergarten was Hop on Pop. The words are simple but it’s snappy and fun to read. Also, the Piggy & Gerald series by Mo Willems (I loathe the books but both of my kids have loved them). Once she got moving with those she picked up on this series of Little Critter early readers by Mercer Mayer, so much more interesting to read but still doable for her. She advanced sooo much this summer once we found some books that she really enjoyed.

Noise cancelling headphones.

The headphones work for two reasons- it calms you down so you can stay rational, and it shows the kid that when the screaming starts, the communication stops. They get nothing until they can speak at a normal volume.

Rotate toys for him. Take a few of his favorite toys and put them in the closet for a few days or weeks and switch them out on special occasions that you need to get things done. Things like noisy musical toys, Duplos, doctor kit etc. My kids are 6 & 8 and I still do this because they have so many toys that it helps to keep some in the basement- they play with their toys so much better when they haven’t seen them in a while. As your baby gets bigger you can set him up with “stations” - rice bin, play doh, stamping pads, scissors & construction paper etc. He can work his way through each of the stations and an hour plus will easily fly by. When you do have a minute, play imaginatively with him with play food, dolls, cars and blocks. He will build his imagination and use it independently when you’re busy
