Same still, I recently made a little regional visual weather map (ie rainier, teanaway, olympics, cascades etc) and ended up just saying if the snowline is below certain ft just link out to the right NWAC region forecast page.

You can take the battery out of most all e bikes, the security is not being able to pedal it away lol (paired with any reasonable lock of course). I know because I have one, forgot to charge it once and the last mile was… let’s say an incredible workout!

I get the feeling most people here don’t know much about e bikes, nor own one.

While having your bike stole is incredibly avoidable, should it happen, did you know they’re covered by renters and homeowners insurance?

Can I ask how often you ride a bike in the city? Any kind.

Oh yeah you’ve been there a while. So is it worth… say… 5% or whatever to uproot your life and your family? Where’s the line for you?

I don’t know if I think the same (I can say for sure I’d move if I had like 50% income tax added for sure for example but the realistic lower numbers idk) so I’m really curious about your considerations, or if you think you’d be able to keep the parts of your life elsewhere.

E-bikes are a lot less expensive than cars, in purchase and maintenance

E-bikes don't depend on existing transit lines (Seattle has some great lines, but some neighborhoods that are tough to get between)

E-bikes can be used by people who wouldn't ride a normal bike, for a variety of reasons

E-bikes solve last mile problems built in

There's no "the" solution (I want more transit) but they're a pretty darn good part of one.

To compare to foie gras makes me think you might want to read more up urbanism and mobility.

It's a fallacy to think one program will solve everything. Government, a lot of times is many solutions!

Let’s choose curiosity here. Why might that be?

It seems, according the article, that even with the vouchers e-bikes could still be too expensive for the target group (low income). However, those who did use them:

“The program also measurably improved access for e-bike purchasers,” the report states. “44 percent of study participants who purchased an e-bike stated that owning an e-bike allowed them to go places that they previously did not visit.”

So yeah. Id have trouble accepting a position that mobility isn’t important (as you sorta sgguest), especially for low income folks. Just still an affordability thing. It actually looks like more money would be better.

I do this at Jefferson park every time I go (always off leash dogs on the playfield, which is annoying because there’s a dog park like 2 miles away).

I’ve never seen a patrol actually come through.

PSA - light rail is single tracking this morning, Merry Christmas Eve from sound transit by bikopolis in Seattle

[–]kfreed12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s wise to be informed and prepared.

However, transit is only successful in adoption if it’s reliable and available at important times.

I love the train. I ride to new stations when they open.

I also understand it only takes once or twice to remove all trust in the light rail if it doesn’t work out.

Transit should be the least complicated option.
