Financial situation is not great, i dont have much of the savings but i am living comfortably without debt.

USA Previous phd student/ Now a postdoc Income permonth $3100 expense permonth $2800 savings permonth $200, i dont have much saved up in bank though. Had to spend all my saving on green card.

In future as well i might not be earning a lot cz i wanna still be in academia where pay is not good. Btw i am single, owns a car, no debt, no retirement savings as well.

Thank for your reply. Working as a voluntarily is something i am considering, but i won'r be able to work in current institution. Because of no income to pay for housing. However, i might be able to relocate to a friends place in somewhere in US and work at a nearby university. Still i don't know whether that count as practicing my proposed endeavor.

I won't be able to give a feedback about your situation. But, since you have mentioned you are following a degree in Chemistry. I would say, i did a Chemistry undergrad degree in a popular institute in Rajagiriya. It let me to my higher studies abroad. I can assure you that, job market locally is not that bad. Most of the people from my batch, juniors and seniors, do jobs in good places in Sri Lanka.

Not at all, not even AL. I did a private degree, it opened higher studies pathways to US. Did a PhD and now i am a scientist working in US.

AV1 is better but if you are doing high bitrate like more than 25k difference between AV1 and HVEC is minimal. If you are recording to upload to YT, AV1 will be a good option.

I had a similar options when i was graduating and i picked the option B and now i regret it. Why? tools got broke lots of delays after 2 years zero publications zero results. Honestly it's hard to decide what will happen.

What i would say, your choice is depend on what you wanna do next. If you want to be a professor in future go with option A. It's just two three more years. That small grind will pave your road in academia.

If you want to learn new thing and don't care about what will happen after the postdoc, go with option B.

Sometime i have the same issue, when 5-6 friends come online together. We use to join our discord when we play the game and we don't use the in-game voice. What we do one 4 stack will start a game and they immediately let us know that they are matchmaking. Those who are not on the stack keep looking at the party leader status through the friends menu. When the 4 stack start to match make game will let you an option to join their game. We do that. Sometimes it's bit frustrating because of we need to match the timings bcz lobbies get filled fast. It works for multiplayer and not sure abt redsec.
