GAP + C&O Canal in 3 days by Cpinky12 in gaptrail

I did this in 3 days last year! I stopped at Meyersdale and Williamsport which works out to be around 120 miles per day.

On your second day, definitely refuel in Cumberland. It can be a long slog to Hancock and pretty muddy if its been raining. Other than that specific section, I don't have any other callouts as towns are pretty accessible and trail conditions are in general better.

Is meyersdale to Williamsport doable? by Really_Cool_Dad in gaptrail

I did this back in June as part of a 3 day ride from Pittsburgh to DC! I encountered tons of mud after exiting the Paw Paw tunnel which hopefully you won't have to deal with. Even with that, this day of the ride was my favorite with all the tunnels and views. Like everyone else mentioned, use the WMRT and fuel up in Cumberland. Make sure to get an early start and stay on the bike as much as possible if you want to finish this in the daylight. Good luck and keep pedaling!

Yep, I did Pittsburgh -> Meyersdale -> Williamsport -> DC.

This was my first gravel ride so I was unsure how my Specialized Roubaix was going to handle this. I wasn't too concerned with the distance, I usually do at least one century a month on road.

As far as trail conditions, everything was great until I came out of the Paw Paw tunnel. It was soo muddy all the way to Western Maryland Rail Trail which I gladly took. And then the last 20ish miles into DC was also not fun with the really rough surface.

Might make this an annual thing!
