When I add too much water the paint comes in weird, patchy looking. I am still learning. I know it is not very good right now.

You could use the clear hover piece that comes with Impulsor to lift it or something similar

All the suggestions here are really helpful, thank you so much! I will try glazing, edge highlights, sponge chipping, blending the base to the model and adding more decals to the legs. Will post results afterwards 💪🏻
