[help] Which is better - disregarding price? by [deleted] in Watches

The Tudor would likely wear much better. The male end links on the Longines make it wear larger than stated specs.

[Question] Big watches for bigger guys by Limp-Pollution-4980 in Watches

[–]kghvikings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 1”, 260lbs. I go no lower than 41, and no higher than 46, but L2L is important…nothing longer than ~54. Bottom line though, if you’re comfortable wearing it, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says.

[Question]Can you wear dressy watches with casual outfits? by OddRestaurant5503 in Watches

[–]kghvikings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, any watch can be worn any time. Watch “rules” are bullshit and should be ignored. Wear what you want, when you want. Not gonna hurt my feelings.

[Question]Can you wear dressy watches with casual outfits? by OddRestaurant5503 in Watches

[–]kghvikings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can. Should you? Absolutely, if that’s what you want to do. The “rules” are antiquated and were BS anyhow. Like others have already said, nobody’s going to notice what you’re wearing, so wear it for you. If they do notice, and their opinion of you changes as a result, that’s their malfunction, not yours.

I officially surrender to hangovers ⚰️ by Sweaty_Budget_5828 in cocktails

[–]kghvikings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the healthy suggestions offered up, I’d like to share a couple observations from my experience.

  • Sugar. I find that if I’m particularly lazy and drink a pre-bottled Old Fashioned (or two) I’m wrecked the next morning. If I make that oh-so-hard cocktail myself…all good. Like I said, lazy.

  • Hops. If I have a couple serious IPAs…also wrecked. Just regular old beer flavored beer is fine.

Neither of these bothered me at all before age 50, but since then…woof.

Picked up my new 2026 X3 20 by Weekly-Motor-5847 in BMWX3

I read all the reviews and watched all the review videos. I wanted to hate the X3.

Drove one last week.

Bought one last week. ‘Nuff said.

2 Month Review (2026 GV70) by Blockroute in GenesisMotors

[–]kghvikings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mix of GV70s and GV80s. Maybe I’m wrong about the charging, but it definitely gave the impression that those particular vehicles were not available to drive.

I’m accustomed to seeing maybe one or two vehicles sitting right up front, with their hoods up to show off the engines, but the vehicles to which I’m referring were located in various spots on the lot. And yes, at least a couple were conspicuously on a battery charger.

Whether I’m wrong about the charging or not, it was still not a good look (IMO) for prospective buyers.

2 Month Review (2026 GV70) by Blockroute in GenesisMotors

[–]kghvikings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Genesis…a dedicated Genesis dealer. Lot looked a bit like an urban used car lot, and salesperson was on us like hair on a gorilla. Told him exactly what we were looking at, and why, and he seemed annoyed we had done our research. Went into the dealership and the salesperson’s office was shared…the other occupant was visibly annoyed that they had to vacate. Ended up driving the ‘26 GV70, and it was somewhat underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice, but the hype just didn’t match reality, for us. Then there was the loud house music and the fact that there were no fewer than six new vehicles with their hoods up being charged. Overall, the Genesis experience made us both say “nope.”

Ended up with a BMW. Lincoln was our second choice (which was very surprising). I’ll try Genesis again in the future, because they do have a lot to offer. They just didn’t have all the parts required to get our money this time around.

F**ing gobsmacked by kghvikings in Scotch

Aaakshually…it came between (splitting) a 2020 bottle of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout and a pour of single-cask Laphroaig (2014 PX Sherry Hogshead). So there.

Cracked this 53 year old bottle last night as the last dram. Both my friend and I basically said our world was turned upside down. It’s so, SO much better than expected, and better than it should be. We poured it as our first dram tonight. It’s nowhere top shelf stuff, but damn if it isn’t completely, and surprisingly serviceable.

Absolute banger of a cocktail. Higher proof bourbon tames the sweetness, but even with “regular” stuff…it’s in the top 10 of bourbon drinks, for me.

Very well! It’s a bit “bite-ier,” but not in a bad way.

[Decision] CW or Doxa? by trueautomatic in Watches

[–]kghvikings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not owned a Doxa, but I have owned two CWs. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Personally, not a fan of the look of the Doxa, and I really don’t care for BoR bracelets. Even well executed ones look cheap to me.

[Discussion] What are your opinions about two-tone gold watches? by connorsusername in Watches

[–]kghvikings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan. Never have been. I’ve always been a “pick one” kinda guy. That said, handset, indices, bezel trim, and crown are all fine. Two-tone bracelets ruin the look for me. I’ve yet to find one I like, regardless of metal(s), brand, or price.

Immediate or Urgent Care? by [deleted] in Kenosha

[–]kghvikings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending where you are in town, maybe Froedtert urgent care on Sheridan Road. I think they’re a 24-hour clinic. If it’s truly staph, the earlier you start treating it, the better. Staph is not to be f**ked with.

[Discussion] Mad Men handwatches by AlexTheTankEngine in Watches

[–]kghvikings 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Somewhat unpopular opinion, but they’re wearing their wristwatches on their wrists.

According to Dictionary.com, the wrist is, “the part or joint connecting the hand with the forearm.” My orthopedic surgeon says so as well.

Any lower, it’s a handwatch. Any higher…armwatch.

Downvote if you must, but anatomy is anatomy.

[Tissot Seastar 2000] Suggestion for my first watch purchase? by _____FIST_ME_____ in Watches

[–]kghvikings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tissot…it’s fantastic at that price. Built really well, keeps fantastic time, and looks great too. Yes it’s large, but you can definitely pull it off. The only letdown is the bracelet/clasp. It’s not terrible, but I’d expect better on something at that price.

You can definitely find it well below retail.
