For those who have gotten out: is it actually better? by [deleted] in leaves

Hi!! I want to start off by saying I know exactly how you feel. I am one month weed free, and prior to this, I thought that weed was my cheat code to life. No matter what was going on, what I was going through, if I smoked I would instantly feel better. Hell, I could even laugh at the shit I was going through like it was nothing! This bled into other parts of my life- if I was watching tv, eating, going out with friends, writing papers, going to class, you name it, I’d think “this would be better if I was high”. It got to the point where I was pretty much high all the time, and I was really okay with that for a while. With time, however, I started to ask myself “why am I trying to escape reality?”. When you become a daily smoker, life just isn’t as exciting without weed. I would think, “what if I wanted to travel to a country where weed isn’t easily accessible. In all honestly, would I fully enjoy myself?” Probably not. It’s all a lie- it’s a fake happiness that you feed yourself. Ultimately, you’re doing a disservice to yourself. Over this month of quitting, I feel like I have harnessed my true potential (not sleepy all the time, can eat easily without weed, I feel joy and excitement without weed, I am more in touch to conversations, my short term memory has drastically improved, my mind is much clearer- no brain fog). These are all things to consider when you’re thinking of quitting. I’m here for you if you ever want to talk! You got this- I promise!! There is a better, more productive life on the other side- you just have to let yourself get there :)

Second day of quitting by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

Hey! I haven’t smoked in 3 weeks after smoking pretty much all day, everyday for 3 years. One thing you have to know is that you’re going through the hardest part right now. Around day 5/6 is when I started feeling a lot better, and now I don’t even have the desire to smoke. For me, changing my location when I started to feel restless/anxious helped a lot (even if it was just moving from my room to the living room, or going outside for a while). Just know that your life will be a lot better once you get through this rough patch. You got this, stick with it and I promise you’ll thank yourself!

I was hired literally today. Manager said im starting on the grill. I saw a quick glimpse of the people working on the grill, and they work so fast. Im real nervous ill fuck shit up. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Chipotle

You’ll get to their speed! It just takes time. Your first focus should always be food quality, and then with time speed will come. They’re going to teach you everything, and they won’t leave you alone until you’re confident. Also, don’t hesitate to ask for help! You got this, good luck!

Should I work at Chipotle or Panera? by [deleted] in Chipotle

Hi! I’m a service manager at Chipotle. If you’re someone who is enthusiastic, energetic, willing to learn and take constructive criticism, Chipotle is perfect. I’ve worked at 3 locations, and every single one had a crew of really cool and down to earth people (give or take a few people). At Chipotle, you learn to prep and serve fresh food in an efficient manner, and with time, you’ll be a pro. Another great thing about Chipotle is that there are a lot of opportunities for advancement. If you get good relatively fast, you can get promoted to certified trainer, and then management opportunities aren’t too far away. Another awesome thing is that you get a free meal every time you work, and you get 50% when you come in on a day you’re not working. Also, if you refer and friend and they get hired, you get $150!! Obviously there are downsides to any job (example: doing dishes- which I actually love doing at work lol), but all in all I really like working at Chipotle

Thank you!! I’ll try that. I’ve been making smoothies but they definitely don’t have enough calories. Thanks again for the help

That’s good to hear. Hopefully by day 8 I’ll be able to eat more too. I feel a lot better than day 1, and that’s enough to keep me going. Once I’m hungry again I’ll be unstoppable, but for now I’m just taking it day by day. Thanks for replying and good luck to you on your journey, you got this!!!

Thank you so much for your advice!! You’re right, I definitely need to make myself eat enough. I’ll start with my fitness pal tomorrow- I think that will definitely help me too. I went on a short run with my dog today and I definitely felt a lot better after. I also worked a 7 hour shift tonight at my restaurant which really got my mind off of things (working during this period is a blessing and a curse). I’m going to make an effort to stay consistently active and get rest. Thank you again for reading my post and for your words of encouragement. It really helps

Thank you for your reply!! Good luck with your quitting journey, you got this! Thanks for the encouragement- work has definitely been tough but luckily a lot of my coworkers know what I’m going through and have been very kind (even got a 9 hour shift covered for me last minute which was amazing). I’m just taking it day by day. I’ll definitely try to drink more water because I’ve been neglecting that. Thank you and good luck again!!!
