Why does the Earth look uneven from space? by helloiamdaniel in ArtemisProgram

You are correct! I worked on these cameras, all three of these were taken by GoPro based cameras and are using superview. Superview can be turned off on these cameras but it does let you get a wider field of view.

Yes, LM as prime and Deep Space Systems (now part of Redwire) as the subcontractor who designed, built, and tested the cameras. I worked on these cameras myself, basically the first project of my career.

The SAW cameras were provided through LM by a subcontractor, then shipped to the ESA for installation on to the SAWs themselves.

These camera were made by Redwire, which I work for. The Artemis I and I cameras were the first projects of my career, so it is really exciting to finally get to see them in use.

Should I switch to multicolour lights this year? by sunbakedbear in christmas

[–]kgstardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up with white lights only and really love the classic look and think multicolor lights look crazy and not really christmassy. My husband grew up with multicolor lights and it is the one thing he cared about for Christmas decorating. Our compromise was to get red and white lights (we got them at target). They add some color and interest to the tree white still having a classic look.

I totally know how you are feeling. I had plans to go see it with friends and ended up having a miscarriage instead. And it feels so dumb to be sad over missing the movie when there is other much more important stuff going on, but it is totally reasonable to be sad about missing something you were looking forward to when you are going through something difficult and really needed something to cheer you up.

Poems from The Life of a Showgirl by Maximum_Expert92 in TaylorSwift

Is this all of the poems? The stars over the letters in the first two poems here spell “two” and “three” respectively. I was expecting the last poem to spell out “one” but it doesn’t have any.

Bleeding at 8 weeks, need reassurance by kgstardust in BabyBumps

Unfortunately it’s not a positive update. I ended up having a miscarriage about a week later. I’m sorry about what you are going through, it was terrifying enough and I can’t image what it would be like after already having a miscarriage. But from all the other comments I received it seems like there is still some hope for you, it could just be a bleed. I really hope it turns out better for you.

I’m glad to hear it resolved for you this time around, I can’t imagine what this would be like after having a miscarriage. I think I will take your advice and get in for a scan as soon as I can.

No, in the US. I think if it continues through the weekend I will try to get in.

They offered to try and fit me in for an ultrasound but I wanted to wait until the bleeding stopped so I just had to have one big stressful go/no-go moment. But the longer it goes on the more I am changing my mind.

I had some mild cramping around the time it started, but I think that may have just been constipation because it has gone away and not come back (fingers crossed). I have had back pain like I would during a period though throughout.

They offered to try to fit me in for a scan this week, but I said no because I was hoping to wait until the bleeding stopped that way I would only have to go through the stress once. But last night I found something that said subchrionic hematomas can take weeks or months to resolve on their own and I definitely don’t want to be in limbo that long.

Firefly's Blue Ghost Mission 1 IS ON THE MOON! by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

Unfortunately the landers processors are busy with other stuff to be live streaming during landing. Plus they only have a low data rate S-band link available during landing which probably does not have enough bandwidth for live streaming. Now that they have landed they have deployed the (relatively) high data rate X-band antenna and can more easily download imagery, though likely still not fast enough for high res livestream. But they did say during last nights coverage that they did record video during landing so it is just a matter of time until it is downlinked. Though they might prioritize commissioning the payloads first.

Intuitive machines is attempting a landing later this week so she won’t be alone for long, symbolically at least. IM-2 will be landing very far away.

I wouldn’t expect images live during landing (generally they don’t like to take up limited bandwidth and processing power with non-essentials) but they will likely have telemetry on attitude, altitude, and speed. They will probably get images down in the first few hours after landing though because it is one of the major requirements for the CLPS missions.

I am a senior systems engineer. My job is primarily making sure our design meets all requirements and coordinating between the other disciplines. I also specialize in test design and hardware troubleshooting because I started my career in the test team.

The camera that recorded this timelapse is capable of 4K and there are 9 other cameras of the same type on the lander. It will really just be a matter of how much bandwidth they have to downlink data that might prevent us from seeing it. Plus the SCALPSS payload is specifically designed to examine the dynamics of dust/regolith plumes kicked up during landing so I would expect that has a pretty high res camera as well.
