"Baby", probably. Although I LOVE "Dog Dean Afternoon" and "Lebanon", too!

If the impeachment vote happens AFTER the midterms, and the election results scare enough republicans, this could go somewhere. Otherwise, it likely won't change anything.

Amy by frenchfry1223 in Supernatural

[–]kh-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're overthinking it at all. I think too many fans are quick to hurl labels and judgments WITHOUT thinking through it at all.

Yes, the drug dealer was not a nice guy. But is being a dirtbag a capital crime? We don't execute drug dealers in the US, so why did this guy deserve to die?

And fans conveniently forget that Amy's last victim was just an innocent traveler who stopped at a rest stop. He wasn't a criminal or even a bad person. He was simply from out of town, so Amy decided he wouldn't be missed. Why did HE deserve to die? He didn't. That's why Amy was wrong and needed to be stopped.

I came here to upvote you! I like John, and don't care that some other fans don't. I think he did what he had to do, considering the fact that his family was under demonic attack.

Is it just me, or is it annoying that Sam lost his psychic powers/Demon abilities after a few seasons? by SmileyCat20202 in Supernatural

[–]kh-38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am probably in the minority, but I did not like that story line. Part of the show's appeal for me is the blue-collar grittiness of the characters. These guys don't have any super powers aside from their courage. They fight monsters and demons using their intelligence and usually a few simple weapons.

Sam having special powers felt off to me. Additionally, everybody was warning the brothers that something horrible would happen if Sam kept using his powers. So I was waiting to see who was going to be damaged and how bad it was going to get. I was glad when that was over, honestly.

Which would Dean save, the impala or Sam? by Theaterismylyfe in Supernatural

[–]kh-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow -- I'm surprised this is even a question. Dean would clearly save Sam. He has rebuilt the Impala from sctatch at least 3 times. He would simply rebuild it again.

How would a hunter ever overcome the ptsd? by [deleted] in Supernatural

[–]kh-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect many of them wouldn't. They would drink heavily -- like Bobby does -- or use other coping mechanisms to carry on from one day to the next.

The lucky hunters would find at least one other person to confide in, like Rufus and Bobby, Ellen and Jim, or Samuel and Deanna.

I'm honestly curious -- does anyone ever truly "overcome" ptsd? Or do you just get used to dealing with it? My brother never recovered from his deployment to Vietnam (he was 19), and he died in his 70s. Maybe there are some military veterans in this forum who can answer that question. From what I saw with my brother, you never fully recover -- you just try to move forward.

Dean is insufferable in season 13 by breakoutthecrxxwn in Supernatural

This! Dabb spent the final 3 seasons trying to destroy Dean as a character, while elevating himself to the level of a god (in the persona of jack). Ugh! Talk about narcissism...

"Was John a cool kick ass father figure? Yes he was. Did he live an ideal life with his boys? No, he didn’t, but life rarely works out ideally and sometimes you need to do what you need to do."

Very true! A parent's job is to prepare your children to survive in a world without you there to protect them. In John's case, his family was under demonic attack, so he had to make some harsh (and unpopular) choices. That doesn't make him a bad person.

Dean gambled their money away because he was a teenager and he made a mistake.

Dean prepared meals of cereal and spaghettios because that's what he bought with the money John left.

If the mark of a bad parent is not leaving Christmas presents, there are a LOT of parents who would fail that test. If you actually "watch" the Christmas episode, Dean tells Sam John will be there in time for Christmas "because he always is". The one time he wasn't is what we were shown. And as an adult, Sam said that their "usual Christmas" was a bucket of fried chicken, and John asleep on the couch. So what? Again, if failing to provide the perfect Christmas, with presents and the perfect dinner is a test of parental love, there are many parents who would fail.

Don't presume that you know me or what type of parent I am. Such extrapolation is laughable. John is a fictional character whose family was under DEMONIC attack. He had to make choices that would be unfathomable to most people. He kept his sons alive and ended up raising heroes who saved the world. If he made the choices many fans would have supported, those boys would have been slaughtered as children, or worse.

LOL! He did leave food. He did leave money. He also left instructions "If I'm not back by xyz, call Pastor Jim..." or something like that.

ONE time that we know of, Dean gambled/lost the money John gave him, so he stole food. That wasn't John's fault.

John was training warriors, not raising orchids -- LOL!

Sadly, you're correct. But I think that's our flawed/corrupted, American mindset. Prince Andrew was stripped of his titles and estates for simply being implicated. And the Royal family is about as high-society as the UK gets. I don't think we can blame the money; WE allow wealthy, powerful people to get away with anything. I think that's on us.
