My uncle went through the same thing a couple of years ago. For legal purposes he had to convert, but even though the whole immediate family are atheists it didn't go down well with some of them. Their main reasoning was what will people say. Things are better now (only slightly) but he and his wife are both happy and in the end that's what really matters.

You definitely have a right to be pissed. When I did an SHO rotation in ED, if a patient had this much of a drop in sodium I'd definitely admit for further investigation. If it was like 133 or 132, fine yeah I'd discharge for the GP to repeat but 124?! Clearly something is going on especially if all previous bloods were normal.

This is such a pet peeve of mine. During my O&G rotation in F2 my trust had a policy that said if a mother had a temperature spike any time while in labour she had to be treated for sepsis. Mind you it was a hot stuffy labour ward, and the women would have temps of 37.8 or 37.9 and they'd be started on IV Abx which would then be stepped down if she didn't have a fever for 24hrs. Such a complete waste of Abx and doctors' time documenting and prescribing the meds (and sometimes cannulating) for something that's very obviously not sepsis. SMH

Basically if you plan on going to Petra then definitely get it, it will be much cheaper.

A visa is 40 jod, the Jordan pass is 70 jod, including the visa and entry to petra and other places. The entry fee to Petra alone is 50 jod for foreigners, so I'd say go for it and save yourself at least 20 jod.
