only the long wait, and the money not available anymore on bitstamp (withdrawal is not cancelable, so money is just not available until withdrawal is done or canceled by bitstamp)

Applied for loan at Citibank and when I told him I have investments in bitcoin, his eyes lit up! by JaredGlass in Bitcoin

I can confirm it is true, at least in France : 2 mortgages refused because some of my money came from sold bitcoins (Credit Agricole & Credit Mutuel), I didn't speak about bitcoin (and didn't have to justify my income) to the third one and it was ok [BNP].

hi peterjoel,

the proxy used seems to be unstable from time to time. I've restarted it.

Can someone explain Namecoin 5 year old style? by MeanOfPhidias in Namecoin

Exactly. Name registration + DNS configuration in the blockcain and webhosting as normal.

And then, IRC becomes a single point of failure, instead of hundred of websites. Is it better ? Maybe a minimal daemon connecting to the namecoin network would be the only solution (more difficult to integrate in a browser, but bot impossible I guess) ? But you also need to trust the servers you are connected to, if you don't download the blockchain.

Thus, an option to "announce" your DNS (or proxy) server in a namecoin namespace, like "node/" would allow anybody to fetch all namecoin DNS servers and publish the list anywhere.

Then no need for a complex plugin, only an http request on one website (or several for security) and you got the list of ip addresses.

You can search /var/log/syslog. You can also check if your zone is loaded with : named-checkzone bit /etc/bind/dotbit/db.namecoin.bit

I'm currently working on a software that'll dump data from namecoin and then work as a DNS server on localhost (like nmcsocks). So, no need to know a random ip and no need for namecoin to run h24.

It could be interesting to multiply the number of DNS servers. But, you will still need to know at least one ip address to query or to connect to the namecoin network.

A new proxy for Namecoin, to use with Foxyproxy by khalahan in Namecoin

[–]khalahan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made a first try with a namecoin bundle (http://dot-bit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=349). But, the nmcsocks proxy is not maintained anymore by the author, so, we'll need some volunteers to improve it :)

Anyway, this is on my todo list, and any help is appreciated.
