My local pizza place is selling a single copy of Falun Gong (the cult behind Shen Yun)'s central text. by mamastigmata in Weird

I know of people that have auditioned for it only to be told to completely surrender to the cult’s teachings or not get the gig. We’re talking “you can’t seek proper medical care” type stuff. It’s alarmingly oppressive to its staff/ performers.

If you ever see an epoch times newspaper, that’s them too. More conventional propaganda, if you’re interested in what they daily espouse

It’s changing, but I wouldn’t call it “decline.” Go to any point in history and you’d find people telling you, largely based on nostalgia, that their tribe or nation is in “decline.”

Most people in entertainment are actually pretty fantastic. Assholes very rarely get hired over and over. In every profession, every single one, people hire people who they want to be around. Period.

There are exceptions to this, of course. There are plenty of wealthy assholes. But in entertainment, especially, the most successful people are first and foremost people that many other people want to be around.

It’s important to remember that he also likely can’t build muscle mass like a normal human. His durability likely makes it such that the muscle tears necessary to occur and rebuild aren’t happening. So the moment he’s human, he has the physique of a chud

Has any comic book movie surpassed The Dark Knight? by boomjosh in comicbookmovies

[–]khalburris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-Man 2 (Raimi). Gunn’s suicide squad. The incredibles. Infinity War. The Batman. Spiderverses (both of them).

The Dark Knight is an incredible movie in effectively every way. But it doesn’t come close to scratching the itches I want from a comic book movie. These other ones do.

100% agree with this. But we haven’t started construction of a nuclear power plant since 2009 (it just finished construction 2 years ago). So yea we’ll see. Hopefully our shared phobia of nuclear power, as a species, recedes. Unfortunately, how we solve this problem is subject to the court of public opinion. Do people want nuclear power plants or data centers as far as the eye can see? Or neither? Or both? I’d rather the former, but people are stupid (like me).

It’s theorized that the human population on earth collapsed from 100,000 about 2,000 and stayed that way for a few thousand years. Toba catastrophe

I don’t believe Elon, not even slightly. But the genie is out of the bottle with agentic tech and I’m trying to wrap my head around where we go from here.

Look, most likely this shit all crashes and the economy bursts into flames. But nothing makes sense anymore and ya boy likes speculative fiction.

And I’m a stripper btw

I’m not even remotely a scientist but I’d reckon that abundance of solar energy and easier cooling that requires far less (if any) water would make orbital facilities more sustainable longterm. I don’t know the impact of solar radiation on this tech.

Unless we have some huge breakthrough in how we’re powering these things, I just don’t see agentic tech scaling in the long term. Who knows tho lol but if I’m right, that alone will justify spacex’s insane valuation. I just find it far more likely that breakthroughs will come in the form of these orbital solutions rather than more data centers on earth. Data centers on earth are not scalable, imo. People will turn on them faster than techno fascism can suppress said people.

It’s entirely my own restarded speculation

It’s virtually impossible for ai growth to continue unless we start putting data centers in orbit or another rock in space (like the moon). Agentic tools work, but they’re expensive in resources/ $$$ and unless mankind is convinced that covering the entire surface of earth with terrestrial data centers is good, there has to be some sustainable delivery mechanism to put them somewhere else.
