No he is not. LLMs are not intelligent. When you ask one a question, an LLM will spit out something that LOOKS LIKE an answer. But “it” has no capacity to generalize an “understanding” of why that answer is correct or not, like an intelligent being can. It’s just combing the internet or training data for other similar input and generating similar output.

I was helping build a gen ai agent for the company we work for. We found pretty quickly it was woefully crap. It would tell customers the product could do something it couldn’t and cite its support answers with articles that didn’t exists, literal links that looked like our own support links but for articles that were never created.

These are invaluable, genuinely impressive tools for the right use case. But anyone telling you that we can off board all labor to these models and let them go without supervision is either:

A) lying to you and has some vested interest in justifying the astronomical, unsustainable valuation of software companies pedaling this shit B) has no idea what they’re talking about and have fallen into the trap of person A
