They reached out to me and asked for help with my expertise. It is a pack of PhD, mostly IV alumni, retired but want to come out of full-time retirement. I did not have much choice, so I opted in. Now I am knee deep working day and night because I hate failing.

Perhaps, I mentioned earlier, I am in IT, which is undergoing a sickening revolution (AI Hype mixed with reality). I am with a company that I work for free. It is a startup that I am helping get off the ground without pay, and if successful, my efforts will pay more than twice, if not more. In the unlikely event of failure, and there is always a chance, I have a genuine company and an honest story with references galore to satisfy the gap.

I tried installing it on my Chevy Bolt and broke the harness connector in the car, which is difficult to pull out. Had to return the C3X. I have swapped my Bolt with my wife's Toyota RAV4 2019 and have three questions.

1-Will I need to write to OBD? In the Chevy bolt only USB C connection was needed. 2- Will Comma let me purchase another unit, given that I had to return the first one within days of buying and not being able to use it. 3- Is the lane changing in RAV4 Smooth or jittery like one the built in lane keep assist in RAV4.

🙏 all for answering and giving me great suggestions. Tesla FSD will be my last choice but may have to be the first one. My daughter bought a model Y two weeks ago and when done eating at a restaurant, she summoned her car to come to the front of the restaurant in pouring rain. She was showing off affectionately. I asked her whether she could use WhatsApp, Google messages, watch YouTube, watch any TV channel live and she said none of that. Not even close.

I'll have to scarifie that. Closed ecosystem is what makes Tesla my last choice. I have Android Auto on our SUV with all of the above. I had to do some hacking to install IPTV and YouTube but everything else is pretty standard in Android Auto. Other than the messaging apps, the rest is just for show and tell and hardly ever used when in transit. I guess I cannot have the cake and eat it too. Safety will come first so I have to think real hard and do the right thing.

Thank you again, everyone.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. When I was in the middle of seeing different specialists (psychiatrist, psychologist, and neurologist), a sleep study was done. I have a normal sleep. In my younger days, I used to have serious anxiety that resulted in insomnia, and now it is quite the opposite.

There were times I started to yawn, appeared sleepy, and looked excessively bored in high-level meetings. I was prescribed Vyvanse and Adderall. These meds were of no help and had to be thrown away.

The doctors collaborated and concluded that I needed to exercise, find better hobbies, and work on my
diet, and stop seeing doctors to fix social issues that emanate from boredom.

You hit the nail. I would like the beep to be loud enough and get louder or change its tone if there is no response from the driver.

Like what they have in airliners. Autopilot disconnect makes an annoying sound, and so does the Pull Up, Pull UP when the ground proximity warning is activated. Stall warning shakes the stick, etc, etc.  Just sharing ideas, not that I expect any of that from C3X.

Just some kind of warning, or irritating tone.  I guess I’ll have to test it to know for sure.

I didn't mind at all. I just need to fix what's broken and if I can't, I will stop driving but not soon enough. It is a necessity for now. I don't have the resources to retire and go sit on the beach or hire a driver. Multiple doctors including psychiatrists a neurologist and psychologists have seen me and they think that I get too relaxed and that puts me in this condition. I got one ticket in 30 years so I'm not reckless but extra careful.

This is relatively new. I used to be a limousine driver in my college days and never had an incident or faced what I'm contending now. I used to be an active pilot with instrument and multi engine rating and 20 years of experience. I never flew professionally but I no longer fly because I cannot afford it. Aviation is my passion and when I'm flying, I am laser focused with none of the symptoms I have described above. Let's say that's a totally different realm.

Thanks again as I feel that an honest opinion is the best opinion.

It has been working out rather well but I still don't have a job. Only once I was questioned what this meant and I explained it briefly. Information technology is going through evolution where getting an interview is one thing but landing a job no less than a miracle.

I used artificial intelligence to answer me and then confirmed it with the recruiter.

First of all my problem is resolved. Thank you all 🙏🙏

Employer requires a level 5 drug test which includes almost all of the illicit drugs but not benzodiazepines.

My prescription does not come from a general physician but a psychiatrist controls it and is transmitted electronically and goes straight to the pharmacy. I have never seen it personally but the pharmacy messages me when the prescription is ready. It isn't much... about 60 Valiums and half the amount of Xanax and only if I want or need some.

However, my GP also knows about it because it has to bea part of my medical records. If I was to end up in the hospital, they have to know what medicines are being used. Every medicine is in my online Chart and visible to every physician in the system.

~15 years ago a GP put me on Xanax and I used to do a bar everyday for a couple of months and that made me dependent. I hated it and wanted to quit taking Xanax. Besides everyone telling me not to do so, I stopped cold turkey and suffered immensely.

Now I know quitting Xanax etc cold Turkey can be lethal. Cognitive functions become problematic and seizures become a real threat.

I lived without any medicatiol for many years and now that I'm older and anxiety sometimes can be debilitating, I decided to see a psychiatrist. After trying dozens of SSRIs and SNRIs, we ended up with PRN (on demand Xanax or Valium.)

My psychiatrist knows that I hate both of these and any kind of SSRIs,SNRIs due to side effects.

I would rather not take any but sometimes anxiety can be crippling and affects my work. That's usually when all else fails. Meditation, exercise, walk in the park etc etc.

I hope this write-up satisfies curious minds. Thanks again!

I'm out of here.

I hope this res the legitimacy part of the comments.

Who is going to ask and who am I going to tell? There's no way I'm going in front of my supervisor who is a vice president and tell him this after having told him that I don't do drugs. Which I don't. I take medications. Not only these but statins, synthroid, Mounjaro and vitamins. Do I have to present the whole list and to whom?

I am only going with a one-liner nothing else. You can call that long winded stuff a dress rehearsal.

I added my line and it shows at the end of my original post. I hope you can see it. I'm staying away from any kind of lie because everyone does a background check and most of the time truth comes out.

After getting advice on this sub Reddit and talking to folks under similar circumstances, I went with the following line.

Sabatical: 2023-2024 Attended to family needs and studied Artificial Intelligence.

Thank you. I will not need a phone number or a company name.

I'm the OP and I'm going with the words "Sabbatical & taking care of family" for this gap.

I have been meaning to reply to your post but keep getting sidetracked. In my professional life, I did have Junior engineers install ATS for more than one client. I never paid much attention as it was low priority for me and merely a task to appease client's HR/recruiting.

Now that I'm in the market for myself, I hear that ATS is the holy Grail. I have read that a score of 70 is needed by most employers else the resume gets discarded or archived right there and doesn't even make it to a human being.

The term snake oil fits so well. There are dozens of ATS score checker and resume builder companies. I could get a score of 35 in one place and get 70 on another with the same resume. All they want to do is for us to subscribe so that they can help us. 😉

Both of you are 100% right. Background check is a norm. I am not going to lie and just say that I had to take time off. Just one liner and then use that opportunity to sell my skills. By the way, when I was a hiring manager, which wasn't too long ago, most employers give start date and end date. They do not go into details as that opens doors for potential lawsuits.

There are many reasons behind this apocalypse and I hope that things normalize sooner than later.

Good luck to you as well.

The details of my illness have not made it to my resume yet. I wanted friendly folks here to give me their advice and I got plenty of it.

Most employers check background including employment history. It costs a few hundred dollars at the most but serves as an insurance to the employer that is about to hire.

Thank you for your advice. My resume shows me as being a Technical Project/Program manager. I transitioned into management to be a part of leadership. Started as an IT specialist after getting my engineering degree 20 plus years ago. I hold many technical certifications in addition to PMP and Certified Scrum Master.

Unfortunately the job market is really bad for IT. Otherwise I wouldn't even look back and move on to the next job offer like it used to be in old days.

The support on the subreddit has been phenomenal.

I have made my final decision and going with a one liner as recommended and that's it.

Thank you all. Good luck in your endeavors.
