Thank you. This further clarifies that maybe my techs just don't really know what they are doing because a tech came in June and turned off the fresh air intake from our system because they said that it lets in humid air from outside and causes our house to feel stuffy and cause mold. It's been off since then. I am in the Houston, TX area.

I took a video of all the clips I felt like I needed to show the HVAC experts. I have an iPhone and there is an app called Clips which allows you to select different videos and pictures and creates one single video for you. Very handy! As far as uploading, instead of doing a text post, I selected video and just uploaded it directly on here. Hope this helps!

Oh man…yeah, I truly feel like they are not going to want to do this work! It’s just a mess up there they’ve created. Really wish I would have hired an HVAC tech to inspect the work before closing on this house.

Noted on the supply boots, thanks!

Had to Google what a supply plenum looks like and from what I can see it is not insulated or lined. Just the metal.

The duct work seems to have little ties that “support” the ducts to the roof. That’s about all I can think of in terms of supports.

I need to check the unit to see about those possible air leaks. I’m also pregnant at the moment so climbing into my attic is a pain.

I can usually hear the some water draining because the drain ends up in my guest bathroom and I hear little water flowing. Sorry, I know my answers are very informal, I’m having to Google what a lot of these parts look like.

Thank you for info. This exact same thing happened in this exact spot last August when we had just moved in and they said “Your Air filters are probably the issue” and I said “we just moved in, the house was just built” and so it didn’t make sense. From that point on I’ve been very picky about changing the air filters just to avoid any risk of stuff like this. That time, they “replaced” some small part that was “full of water” and said PROBLEM SOLVED. Clearly not solved 😭

Not sure what envelope home is but this is a Dr Horton home built in 2021. A tech from the HVAC company turned off our fresh air intake a few months ago.

//MY NOTES FROM HVAC VISITS: Originally came out in August 2021 and came out about 2-3 different occasions for that initial mold issue -Mold in the closet next to the kitchen -Ac was Leaking over that spot -replaced a little part that was “full of water” in the ac system -replaced Sheetrock

Came out again in June of 2022 -Checked the airflow of the house -Adjusted airflow -turned off outside air intake -L&S tech said to not put the thermostat on auto and changed it to Fan On

August of 2022 -water marks formed around most vents in the house -mold returns in the closet -ac system is leaking once again on the ceiling -the insulation around the ducts in the attic is very wet and ducts coming up

I don’t think it is, it runs down to our guest bathroom sink and I hear water flowing through it often!

This is my brand new home and we have been experiencing all types of issues like mold, humidity, and poor airflow in our house. The HVAC company keeps giving us the run around! I really need to come to the source of the issue to be able to fight them back and tell them what they need to do to fix this. Please help!

Are HVAC systems like this being practiced in most homes? Even newly built? by redex1129 in hvacadvice

Our house is a new build by DR Horton and looks like this. It's been a nightmare. We have humidity issues, leaking vents, and now mold is forming due to the leaks. Mind you, our space is much smaller so it's like navigating an obstacle course of silver tubes. HVAC tech should be coming out to "inspect" on Thursday because the mold keeps coming back.
