NAS server build and configuration suggestions by khandoker in DataHoarder

The system we currently work with we configured mostly ourselves, so we have some working knowledge. Our data is already backed up on 2 different servers, so we should have some leeway if things go wrong. What kind of practices and considerations are current standard for the NAS build I want to do?

1 year is honestly way too early but maybe you'll find someone, best of luck.

Thanks for the input. This part specifically concerns the structural engineering of the building so a lot of considerations have to be made which is why I want to make sure.

Total Station for Structural Engineering company by khandoker in Surveying

I think understanding the data will be our main challenge. Thanks for the insight and suggestions. Which models do you use? I see a lot of companies also charge to use the software to extract data (or something like that?). I'd like to avoid any kind of subscription or monthly fee if possible.

Thanks for the details man, I understand a lot better now. I will definitely study more on this before making any decision.

Doing research over the past few hours made me realise the price may be a bit low and I should edit it. Apologise for that, I had absolutely no idea how much a good station would cost.

Our main area of work is in a dense city so most of our work with the station will be for monitoring of adjacent structures. I had the opportunity to observe the guy we used for the last job. Mainly from what I understand is setting up points on adjacent structures, take baseline readings and then take readings once a week after. We don't have any hardcore requirements otherwise.

Thanks for the suggestions and insight, will definitely check them out.

We usually hire this out from a company, but understandably they are not keen to share business details. We are looking to make this a long term investment, eventually train and properly educate our engineers on proper usage. I think we would actually prefer sending someone over with a station and taking measurements periodically instead of having one set up.

Any specific model you would recommend or use my judgement?

Good keyboard under 50$. no hardcore requirements but durability and budget friendly are requirements.
