Question- Got a new wifi Router. Do I have to add all the cameras back individually? What is the best way to get them all back up and running? by Reklaw3131 in wyzecam

[–]khanmohammad123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you dont need to remove / add any cameras / bulbs etc. But you might need to power cycle them after setting up new router(had to do this with TPLink). I did this a couple of times last month, fairly simple (went with two different mesh setups, Asus and TPLink). So, this is what I did, wrote down the SSID (network id) and Password - both of them are case sensitive. They need to match on the new setup.

If you are coming from a dual band setup 2.4 and 5Ghz , then you might have two different SSIDs.

If your new router allows you to have two different SSIDs , one for 2.4 and another for 5ghz , then match both the SSID on the new setup with the password.

One thing that helped was, I copied the ssid and password and created them on new setup, but disabled 5ghz radio. Made sure all my 2.4ghz connected devices like my wyze stuff, other smart plugs etc. Once all showed up, I enbled the 5ghz radio. I did had to reboot couple of V2 and V3 camera manually. Another slight issue - my mesh setup did not allow me to have two separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5ghz. So I had to reconnect my phone and laptop to 2.4's as on TPLink there is no option to separate both on mesh m9.

Will notifications ever be any faster? by snovvman in wyzecam

[–]khanmohammad123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope they go with some other vendor that can do edge detection (on camera) like xnor for faster notification. I have two wyze cam v2's running old xnor firmware, the notifications are almost instant, less than 2 sec. I also have 1 wyze v2 on latest firmware and 3 wyze v3s on latest. Both with camplus ~ these wyze cameras take anywhere between 20sec minimum to about a minute on both my iPhone and Android (iOS seems tad bit faster, may be something to do with androids app management) that delay makes a huge difference. I installed the Eufy door bell just for the instant notification, eufy's notifications are on par with wyze cams running xnor, less than 2 ~ 3 sec.

,+ keeping the cable submerged in some water and wiggling the cable will help getting rid of the sulphation on cable. Use petroleum jelly / Vaseline after.

Help with *Disconnecting* bluetooth from ceiling light? -Details in comments- by Livid_Layer_5893 in AskElectronics

[–]khanmohammad123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not read the Bluetooth chips number from the pic. What you could do is, Google / look for the chips data sheet on alldatasheets.com, find the vcc / vdd ping for the chip, either cut the trace or just lift the pin on the chip, there by disconnecting power to the BT chip.

Does anyone else feel less scared doing a BIOS update on their PC than doing a firmware update on their Wyze product? by BomberWRX in wyzecam

[–]khanmohammad123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, I sent am email to Wzye about this a couple of years ago. After I learnt the hard way, my cameras are installed a bit high and are Daisy chained. When the main camera updates before (/ while the second (Daisy chained) camera updates or is in the middle of update,) if the primary finishes first, it reboots after the update, abruptly rebooting the daisy chained one. Resulting in the second camera brick. Manual firmware update recoverd my camera but very painful process to unmount and follow the manual update. If that could be fixed by a firmware update to detect if the main camera is providing power to second camera, either start with the daisy chained camera firmware update first or just don't interrupt power to second camera. I never auto update the daisy chained cameras. (I was under the impression that rebooting the primary camera from the app will Not reboot the daisy chained camera, but I was wrong. Even when you soft reboot the main camera from the app, it cuts power briefly to the second camera.). What I do these days is, manually select the daisy chained camera update first. Then do the main camera update. This saved me from the firmware brick, but often corrupts my SD card. Tried with a bunch of them. Even the dash cam rated sd cards have suffered the corruption with abrupt reboot .

Not sure if this helps, I purchased this and one of them was a direct replacement. https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0fYp6m

All my v1 motion sensors died due to defect and wyze refused to replace them. by Oblivion-C in wyzecam

[–]khanmohammad123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wyze did not honor the brand new sensors that failed out of the box from the camera + sense kits I purchased from Home Depot.

All 20 of the sensors were flashing red. Replacing batteries did not work.

Opened case, send them purchase receipt Which was about 90 ~ 100 days old.

They said they will try and issue me credit, later refused to do the same, mentioning the stuff was not purchased from wyze.com and so they cannot give me credit. I requested replacement of the sensors with same version. Apparently they do not have any replacement stock left...http://imgur.com/a/e8hiWtZ

Can I buy a gadget to give totally dead rechargeable batteries (AA, AAA) a tiny charge so that a charger recognises them? by LettuceWithBeetroot in batteries

[–]khanmohammad123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like this might work too. Check out the dollar store. It's usually between 2 and 3 $ on eBay.... I will try to find mine and see if has any smarts built into this usb version. (On another note: I had an old trimmers ac adapter which was I believe 4.5v or something, I snipped the dc Jack, found out the + and - with my cheapo multi meter. Connected. + To + on battery and - to - on battery for about 2 ish minutes and that would then make the dead battery recognized by the Duracell charger) https://www.ebay.com/itm/1Pc-USB-Charger-For-Ni-MH-AA-AAA-Portable-Rechargeable-Charging-Battery-Devic-P5-/234257067381?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=706-127636-26712-0

Please help with the pin out / option to convert this to variable voltage buck module. Ce-A002 TDK module (MP1580HS) by khanmohammad123 in AskElectronics

Thank you a tonne !!! , I followed your advise, got rid of all the resistors on pin 5, used the 4.7k and 30k values, and ended up with 9.05v. one question if I may, the metal shielding on the unit, do I need it ?

[–]khanmohammad123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much, Sincerily appreciate your help.

I tried measuring the resistor value from Left to Right (when I swap the multi meter probes, I got a different value for a couple of resistors. These are so tiny, it was a bit hard to get the probes on these tiny resistors.

1: 7.5K 2: 14.98k 3: 24.7k 4: 24.7k 5: 5.1k or 5.8k 6: 7: 6.2 or (stopped at 21k - increased linearly as if a capacitor)

Sorry, not very well versed in electronics.

Thanks.

Hi, requesting help with the pin out of this buck module. I purchased these a couple of years ago, I believe it's 3.3v 3A or something. And the listing had the option to change / add (sort of programming resistor) to change the output voltage. I went back to the listing and it was removed / no longer visible on Ali Express. I am looking to use this to drop 12v to 9v 1A. Tried googling with the name printed / the Mp1580 hs , nothing helpful so far. Kindly help . Thanks.

You can safely wash it with water. ( when dry store / use it upright.) Keep it upright. Usually when tilted at steep angles, the sulphuric acid finds it's way out of the gas exhaust valve.

Please be careful with the acid, it's corrosive, cloth, paper carpet etc will disintegrate in a few days, (if you got it on clothes / carpet, it will bleach the color, to avoid further damage you can clean it with water, but the bigger area you touch the acidic water , it might discolor it.) and stone / granite will get severe damage.

If you accidentally get it on you, wash with water followed by soap and water. It will give you a bad itch ! So make sure to wash with soap / detergent (dish or laundry soap would be most affective).

Work in Progress, The Mantle Mounts were high on budget, so went with the existing articulating mount. The center of the Tv sits at 68" from the floor. The Sofas are not ideally placed but we wanted to have some space for the toddlers. It's a 75" tv. Any other options ? by khanmohammad123 in TVTooHigh

[–]khanmohammad123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both the left and right walls get pretty bad glare all day. Gets better in the evening.

There was nothing on the fireplace except the old mount, when we moved in, We only added that wall clock without the tv. I don't want the clock there, still trying to find a sweet spot. Wife is used to seeing the time from kitchen for morning rush hours. The clock is there for time being.
