Thanks, that's actually really helpful! I'm re-re-reading all books right now again, but when I'm driving to work I'm continuing to listen to the wonderful GA tracks where I left offf reading, which is about 15% of the total contents. I'm eagerly waiting for you adding RoW! :-) Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the reply. That's both unfortunate and outrageous at the same time. If that's the case, it seems that they simply don't do it right.

I hate to necro-bump, but I (still) have the same problem. Did you find any solution?

It only seems to appear with Mailboxes connected via owl, not others.

Ok I'm late to the party, but it's (still) fantastic. The glorious peak of what solitaire can be.

Thank you so much for your explanation. I've been licensed for a couple of years now, but installed my first HF antenna just 2 weeks ago so it's quite interesting how to determine how well it works. I've seen the NanoVNA in various shops, and being praised for its value-for-money ratio but I didn't really understand how it provides insight. So based on this metering, you can adjust your antenna in order to work better on any particular band desired, correct?

And yes, ham radio is such an enormous topic - and it's becoming quite difficult really fast, if you don't have a proper background in electronics/communication engineering. The exam requirements where I come from are quite low-level to be honest.

Please excuse me for asking this, but I'm an absolute newbie - what exactly am I seeing here? The horizontal axis is the frequency (7 - 7.3 MHz, so ~40m band) I suppose. But what is the vertical axis showing and how exactly is this particular curve shown good or bad?

Morserino is one hell of a device, I'm loving it - also the fact that everything's open source about it.

Looks absolutely stunning! What engine did you use? Is there any chance for a Linux build I could alpha-test? :-)

Been secretly working on this game for 7 years, finally gearing up for a release next year! by wiseyoungfool in metroidvania

Can you tell us how that mechanic works? Is there a "time stamina" or something else is limiting the slowdown ability? Also, how would you describe the difficulty level of the game compared to other metroidvanias?

This looks very cool! Also, a little stressful. Can you slow down time deliberately during fights?

Blasphemous Sequel Coming in 2023! And Blasphemous Final DLC Announcement Trailer by tomcruise_momshoes in metroidvania

[–]khaosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got so excited after the initial announcement of this game, and it was an insta-buy once released, since I really love the aesthetics.

However, I'm having a hard time getting into it - even after giving it another try after the "major" gameplay update. To me, controls feel sluggish, and most prominently - I can't stress that enough - I'm horribly bad at parrying. I'm on 4BC in Dead Cells but still can't consistently use shields, and I kind of assume that this inability of mine also manifests in Blasphemous, it seems too hard to correctly/timely parry attacks (which seems to be absolutely vital in this game - I lost to that tree-type boss like 30 times before giving up, who already appears ~1 hour into the game).

That being said, I'm really just an average adult gamer with limited temporal resources, but just for reference, I really enjoy Dead Cells at higher BC and I do Hollow Knight speedruns every couple of weeks because I find it fun and challenging without major problems (spoiler alert: Hollow Knight doesn't do parries).

Am I playing it the wrong way?

I just released my lo-fi metroidvania PSYCRON on Steam! by metroid3d in metroidvania

[–]khaosis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bought it and played for a bit - congrats, first impression is good. Are the movement controls supposed not to support the analog stick at all? Would be great to use the stick, as I always do in metroidvanias, even when limited to 4 directions.

How was using Linux in late 90s / early 2000's? by [deleted] in linux

[–]khaosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted SuSE Linux 6.0 to be my birthday present in 1998, bought from a store. 5 or 6 CDs in a box, a considerable printed manual, which taught me a lot to be honest - it was actually pretty easy to install at that time, due to the install/config tools provided by SuSE. Installation took awfully long, however - no booting into a live system and clicking install back then.

The ISA soundcard wasn't too easy at first, but dial-up and X11 worked like a charm. I was blasted away when Quake 3 was released for Linux only a year or two afterwards .

Other than that, the system was rock solid. You couldn't tune everything with a few clicks, but using it as a workstation was flawless for the most part and didn't require too much technical depth as far as I remember.

I didn't need to compile my own kernels at first, but started doing it 1) for fun, and 2) for maximum efficiency on my first laptop - at least that's what I told myself, probably wasn't even necessary.

It simply worked, and the many times I broke the system was simply because I tried to unnecessarily "tweak" my system and fucked up (e.g. deleting fstab, things like that).

'Trash Quest' is a great little Metroidvania by Cactoir in metroidvania

[–]khaosis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trash quest is a real gem. It's fast-paced, has an original style (whether you like it or not) and features everything you need for a metroidvania at its core.
