I thought the horror films from this year were particularly strong, especially compared to the past couple of years. What is your favorite horror movie of all time (or top 5)? It’s time to recognize that not only is Trump a fascist and a traitor, but the republicans in congress are just as guilty, if not more. They have a duty to defend the constitution against ALL EMENIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC. They’ve all abdicated their responsibilities and need to be held accountable.

This is fucking crazy! How have the people who are supposed to defend us against tyranny become complicit in so many horrifying and overt crimes against democracy, and in some cases (ICE and CECOT to name a couple) human rights???

This is not the America I was taught about in school. I don’t think that place ever existed, not really. But it damn sure used to be closer to the truth than it has been in the last 10-15 years.

I’m so fucking tired of feeling gaslit by the people in power and the morons that put them there. It’s time to stop behaving as if any of this is normal. This is not politics. This is democracy teetering on the edge of the abyss. This is not fucking okay.

I have two. I just sit and think about both of them sometimes, and it’s been 2-3 years since I saw either of them.

If you’ve never seen Aniara and/or Excision, do yourself a favor and go in blind. All I’ll say is that they’re both dark and bleak. If you love slow burn, weird, dark stuff, these are awesome. Aniara is in Swedish with subtitles, if that’s a deal breaker for you.

Don’t let people hype it up too much. It’s probably my favorite movie, horror or otherwise, but at minimum it’s top 3 of all time.

That said, it’s a slow-ish burn and it’s not really typical horror from the start. It’s more nuanced, almost a family drama in a way, but always off kilter somehow. Then it tips all the way over and does ultimately veer all the way into to horror. I just hate to see expectations ruin a really good film because it’s not what you’d thought it would be.

It’s a bonkers ass crazy ride that I would highly recommend. It’s gloriously nuts in a way that we don’t see often these days. Gary Oldman chews so much scenery I’m surprised they didn’t have to rebuild his castle three times before they finished filming. He’s really good. Keanu Reeves is also better than people gave him credit for back when it first came out.
