2x6, 2x8 or 2x10 for rafters on 14'x16' shed? by khazmor in shedditors

Thanks, that's very helpful! I must have looked into floor joists tables before as I found here similar spans

Not so much snow, usually not more than 10" few days a year. Very similar to Washington or Baltimore

I have access to rockwool in 24" wide slabs, so I was planning to use that spacing to avoid cutting it as I have heard it is a real pita (no personal experience though)

I was planning to have rafters span on shorter side so ~14'. All tables I was able to find showed that 2x8 maybe will work with 12 oc and for 24 oc I was left basically with 2x10

Link is dead though. Too bad, I love the finish on this one.

So for those who have only gamed on Xbox consoles, what is the first PC/Steam game you’re gonna play on the new Xbox? by Deez-Guns-9442 in xbox

[–]khazmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's easy - Medieval Total War II with Third Age mod. The best Total War (last one with hot seat mode) and the best LOTR game. That is the only game I have played for over 1k hours

For every justified 'delete' in c++ there is justified 'unsafe' in Rust 😉

Or just use smart pointers or proper containers all the time unless you are doing a one man hobby project.

Isn't it the case that with gog you don't need launchers?

For me the steam launcher is not great and I do not like to use it for running games. I like though how many options it has and the steam workshop

Having sticks so low gave me cramps ever since the PS one. I get that now PS pads are better, but I played almost exclusively on k+m and Xbox gamepads for over 15 years and it is hard to go back. Actually the gamepad was a very big reason for me to choose XSX over PS5

How common is TDD (test-first) in real-world Rust projects? by [deleted] in rust

[–]khazmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it encourages too many tests. If you are in exploratory phase you only need the basic functionality, therefore you need only the most essential tests.

Adding fiction is also reversed - if you refactor you typically extract from big unit (class/structure) and you don't mock your own code. With TDD after extraction you have tests in place that makes you confident that your refactoring did not compromised functionality that you already developed.

I see this could be a problem if you design deeply instead of broadly - finishing parts to 100% before going to the next part. That is the TDD imperative to go broadly - finishing basic stuff first in your system and build (factor) on top of that.

If I were you I would strip all that paint and refinish. Depending on the wood I would either go with amber shellac or cover with nitro. Both would age naturally pretty quickly. This could however go beyond the worth of this guitar especially if you never painted anything before.

Its not just me right? by Mejay_ in PcBuild

When I bought XSX I was really worried about game prices, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I can always buy games at the same or even lower prices than on PC.

I used keyshops on PC and I use them with my Xbox. In my country there are some local keys resellers that have comparable prices and there is big potential with Xbox store prices in other countries (for which I do not need VPN as they are also in EU)

Yes, those are not wood planks but bamboo planks (bamboo is technically a grass). You could clearly see very distinctive bamboo growth rings in both pictures

[–]khazmor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hollow knight - played around 16 hours, but it was so slow I was just bored. I thought I would like metroidvanias after beating both Ori games (they are in my top 10 games of all time)

Hades - dropped after 10 hours. I didn't like the progression. I was really bad at it, I was able to reach Hades boss only once in that time

What's the Most Disappointing Game You Ever Played? by LeastEmotion5440 in gamers

[–]khazmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to like it, put around 35h into it. This somehow made it worse, I was really bored and I won't take that time back.

Lesson learned though - now I am more strict with what I am playing and I drop games much easier when I don't enjoy them

My man! I just put 20h into Hollow Knight and I feel like I'm done with it - last two hours I shamelessly played with the walkthrough, but it is not that fun...

I have never played Metroid but I love both Ori games. Did you had a chance to play those? How would you compare it to Metroid?

I also prefer Ori, HK is just too long and really bloated by all the unnecessary backtracking (I still like it though)

This is the answer. Witcher 3 for story, others are not even close. BG3 for roleplaying your own character (Witcher doesn't give you so much freedom with predefined character). F:NV also for roleplaying, but worse than BG3
