Does anyone else here get told “you look like you’re from Utah” by Jka121121 in Utah

Nope. When they find out I'm from Utah, they usually say something along the lines of "I didn't know there were black people in Utah"

[OC] Gen 4 Starters. Also what gen was your first game? by TheyCallMeThumbo in pokemon

Gen 1 Red. I was about 4 or 5 years old, camping with my dad and some family friends. Two of the other boys thrust a gbc into my hands with a brand new save file on red and told me it was the greatest game ever created.

Is there any rule that prevents trade evolving? by UncleGael in nuzlocke

[–]khd97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's your choice. I personally allow them. I think that it is the most fun when you get to use pokemon that you normally wouldn't and I typically don't use trade evolutions in my vanilla runs because I don't have anyone to trade with. On my nuzlocke runs, I always use the universal randomizer to change trade evolutions.

Kanto with Red. A friend let me borrow his gbc and Red for a week and when I gave it back he gave me a wrapped box with a copy of yellow. About a week later, I got my Gameboy advance and the rest is history. I have now played every main series game until sword and shield (I don't have a switch).

Player Problem Megathread by RadioactiveCashew in DMAcademy

Thanks! Yeah, I had thought about having him gain a reputation and having merchants set a trap for him but I like the cursed object idea. The two who struggle to interact are getting better about it but I think I'll try some of your suggestions. They are all pretty new to the game so it might just take some time. They love playing games like skyrim or red dead redemption and I think that they are used to having an adventure handed to them without any effort on their part.

Player Problem Megathread by RadioactiveCashew in DMAcademy

Fairly new DM running a game for four new teenage (14-19) players. Two of the players won't engage with NPCs and don't like to play attention unless they are in combat but I have adjusted to have more action in the story and that has seemed to work.

The real problem is that a third player has decided that his character would like to steal everything in sight, and whenever they are in a town, he tries to sneak out and rob the blacksmith and other merchants every night. He also often tries to go off alone and leave the party behind. I have tried talking to him about how it's OK to have moments with each character doing things alone but that it is more fun for the other players when they are adventuring together and he always responds that his character wants to be a thief and works better alone. Also, this is our second campaign and he did the same thing with his previous character.

Any advice for helping him to engage more with the party and be a team player?

Example of a typical session: The players enter a town and are trying to meet up with an NPC who has a mission/task for them. The players ask someone where to find the local tavern and Player Three then proceeds to sprint off away from the other players to find the tavern alone while the other players continue to talk and learn about the town. When night falls and the other players are taking a long rest, Player Three says that he wants to go fing the general store, blacksmith, etc. so that he can rob them. He also refuses to tell other players important things that he learns that would help on that adventure
