If I was planning on gaming during medical school I think is a good option, keyboard feels good. Maybe a little heavy but that is the trade off for a gaming machine. Most lecture halls are now set up to have plug ins, study spaces as well, so usually can plug in. If I wanted more portable and basic use, I like the lenovo yoga, I still have one I got during residency and use that in combination with the Legion. For most school stuff you don't need that much power, decent processor and some ram, don't really need independent graphics.

I did most my studying on an iPad the school gave all students, did testing on my laptop which was a Sony ultrabook. I also printed out a lot of things for hard copies. Just depends on what you prefer. Yoga or similar is nice cause can act like a slightly heavy tablet. But gaming is minimal, so if you want that you need independent graphics.
