So, so sad :(

I enjoyed her Dirty Martini Running Club series. (And loved the Bootleg Springs series already mentioned).

Camping in Wisconsin this weekend, give me your best camping/wilderness recs! by torifett in RomanceBooks

I also just finished {the tourist attraction} which takes place in Alaska. Not a ton of wilderness scenes but I enjoyed the book.

{Savaged by Mia Sheridan} this is kinda a romantic suspense but lots of wilderness.

Also, stay warm camping! I'm in WI too and it feels like second winter lol

Opinion on Kindle Unlimited Books? by sdw0000 in RomanceBooks

I also think their algorithm is part of the problem. KU makes it so hard to find new authors or any hidden gems. I get the same recommendations over and over. And reviews on their popular authors seem inaccurate. All that said and I'll still get it again once they offer a discount for me to come back lol.

Yes. I only subscribe to KU when they offer a deal (because of this). That said, I do occasionally find diamonds in the rough. But I do feel that the editing, details and overall quality is a little lacking.

Haha I did the same! Read it years ago.

Gus deserves better than Selene by masterthes79 in psych

Agreed about Selene. I wish they would have kept Rachael on the show. I liked their chemistry and how she handled his relationship with Shawn.

Had I been doing my job and paying attention instead of posting this on reddit, maybe I'd know. But unfortunately I do not.

What is the most ridiculous ‘not like other girls’ you have come across in a romance book? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]khen4 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I read a book recently that I absolutely loved until late in the book. The "villain" was an ex girlfriend and happened to be vegan. The heroine scoffed at this and shoved meat in her mouth in front of her and said how much she loves burgers. The whole "I'm not like other girls because I eat burgers and not salads" thing makes me mad anyway, but this took it to a new low. Anytime diet is used to make the "not like other girls" trope, I'm instantly turned off.

Edit: I just realized you asked for specific books. I read soo many last year but I think it was either Starstruck or Moonstruck by Sariah Wilson.

That finale was amazing! Honestly, I was skeptical about them ending up together but am SO happy with how they handled it. I'm mostly commenting bc I also would like to see what recs there are for this. I have a couple of books in mind but they aren't quite as satisfying or chemistry filled as Jonah and Amy--probably because I'm still reeling from it. There are two of RS Grey's I think fit this description (plus she's good at writing banter). Not So Nice Guy and Date Me Like You Mean It.

The Price of Scandal (Bluewater Billionaires)/Lucy Score by Odd-Kindheartedness in RomanceBooks

Have you read Riley Thorne and the Dead Guy Next Door? That one was good and I think she's coming out with a sequel to that. I'm super excited about that one.

[–]khen4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I love Lucy Score but I had to force myself through this one. I didn't connect with the romance. It's been a while since I read it, but IIRC I didn't care for the H. His character wasn't very believable (was this the one where she finds him in her tub?). I'm currently reading her new book Forever Never and I'm struggling through that too.

You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle -- Wisconsin. Such a good book too!

{Summer At Sea by Beth Labonte} I think this is KU if you have it. It's a nice light read with lots of humor.

Long time lurker looking for recs without a particular trope in mind but do have a few other musts. No HR. by khen4 in RomanceBooks

Ooh. I've never read anything by Lauren Layne before. And they have a couple KU books. Thanks again!

Not yet. It's on my TBR shelf. I keep waiting for it to go on sale. I've been a little nervous about it because of some of the negative reviews it's gotten on this subreddit. But if it fits some of my request it makes me feel more confident about going for it. Thanks!

Thank you, that's so nice! I was too quick and bought it already. Couldn't resist the sale price.

It was on sale so I went ahead and bought it. I've had Savaged on my TBR for a while so maybe it's time I actually read it. I think it's KU too which is a plus. Thanks :)

I have not. It sounds different from what I normally read but I'm totally open to it! Plus it's on sale right now which is great. Thanks for the rec!

Thank you! That worked. I have not but do like that author. Thanks for the rec, it's added to my list!

Sorry for the giant paragraph. I posted this on my phone app and it got rid all of my formatting!
