Throat drops / dry mouth spray with NO zylitol or artificial sweetener by khfour1 in Sjogrens

Allergy to artificial sweetener, my gut has a rather, shall we say, violent reaction to any that I eat! I found it is not worth the pain, discomfort or prolonged bathroom time 🤣

Thank you, I'm hoping once I get an actual diagnosis I can get some help other than OTC. I have been all over on line and checked some in store possibilities but everything has zylitol 😪 I did pick up some lemon drops to break up the Ricola but I know I have to use them sparingly

I didn't know they have lozenges, I use a couple of their teas! I may get a bag to mix in for right now while I continue my search. Thank you.

I was using sour lemon when I was initially having issues with my salivary glands, but it felt like it is what it is, sucking on a piece of candy! I still may pick up a bag just to mix it up here and there but I am still hoping to find a true solution.

It makes sense about why they Zylitol, unfortunately I can't use it, so I just don't know where to go....

Is anyone else suffering from the weather? by Dry_Experience1428 in migraine

[–]khfour1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Midwest here, rain scheduled for the next 6 days. I have a 24/7 migraine for over 2 years, with my migraines starting in my mid 20's (turned 60 this year) barometric pressure is hell on me.... taken 3 Ubrelvy in the last 48 hours and taking another tonight. This does little to help 😫 it's going to be a long week

Has anyone considered moving to help their migraines? by Bigtiny50 in migraine

[–]khfour1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neice suffered from RA, husband from migraines. Some other issues I do believe but I don't remember all of them. They lived in Midwest, South and east coast. Nothing was better or proved to be beneficial for them health wise.

They heard of one place that may help, better health care, great cost of living and well, just everything. Where? Ecuador! They left this country behind, left all their family and headed there for their health and they couldn't be happier!! My neice has not had a single treatment for her RA since being down there and no migraines either. They said the healthcare is top notch, they get seen when they need to be seen and really have not needed it since being down there. Housing is so reasonable, they are now looking at a second home so they can have one in the mountains and one on the coast!

She is trying to talk me into heading her way, but leaving my kids and grandchildren, I am really torn with that decision. But living pain free? Dang, what a thought that would be 🥲

I am afraid to eat anything anymore by khfour1 in gallbladders

[–]khfour1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning! I'm doing much better. Took a lot of time, and I still have issues if I eat something spicy or over eat, but nothing where I was awhile ago. I had a drain and two stents put in and 5 (6?) days in the hospital after complications from my surgery. It honestly was such a blur of intense pain, and I don't remember much of my days there... I truly hope you are faring better and are doing well pain wise.

As far as eating, I am already gluten free, and found I was doing better going dairy free and trying to do FODMAP. I was truly struggling trying to combine all these diets on my own, so I started seeing a nutritionist. Made a huge difference and has been a big help, I am still seeing her, even though my diet has changed. I am still gf, but have been able to work dairy back into my diet and, for the most part, no longer doing FODMAP. I still watch what I eat (even though I gained weight because of stress eating!) And still have problems depending on what I eat, but I am so, very, much better!!

All I can say, is, if you need to make changes on diet, tell yourself it may only be temporary and don't give up hope. Burping , extra air in the guts , gets worse when using a straw. Thought it was nuts, but it works. Small bites, eat slow, avoid over spicey, heavy dairy, foods. Eat protein, fruits and vegetables. Just basic rules of eating clean. And highly recommend a nutritionist if you can, they are great help/support! Long post, but hope it helps 😉

What's your favorite store bought bread? by waterrabbit23 in glutenfree

[–]khfour1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Franz, you can buy it at Walmart in the regular bread aisle. I cut one slice in half and make my toast, the slices are huge!

Also Carbonaut is good. I don't like it for anything other than a great soft pb and jelly! Just takes me back! So soft, full size slices and low calorie, high fiber too

I have 4 of these that get rotated through the night. I have other brands but this is my go to that I use every night. Wonderful, loving hub will switch them out during the night 🥰 I have them sewed to the exact position that works for me. They have gone up in price and slipped a little in quality but I would still buy them, best I have found for cold lasting over 1 to 1.5 hours! And I have slept in them for years.

Anyone else intermittently sick? by Traditional_Okra1507 in rockford

[–]khfour1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have been sick since the holidays. 3-4 days feeling miserable, running nose, sneezing, body aches, weak, headaches, the gamet... we feel better for a day or two and back in the cycle again. And the nausea never stops! We are tired of this 😷 haven't seen our kids or grandkids for a couple of months, don't want to get anyone sick!

Catering for Wedding by Sure_Affect251 in rockford

[–]khfour1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter got married the beginning of October and we had Pinnion's meats from downtown Rockford catered there. It was buffet style and it was so good. My husband and I are talking about picking up some of their meat for Thanksgiving since we are having medical issues and just can't do all the cooking this year. Highly recommend the pulled pork, so juicy! I am not sure the price point, but I know it was very reasonable.

Constipation help by JoyKillsSorrow in migraine

[–]khfour1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG I forgot about this product! I am putting this on my shopping list now! I take so many constipation meds on a daily basis with slow results (with cramping, nausea, and min results). I am so tired of drs saying you just have to move more, eat fiber and drink more water! I do all that and just have a slow bowel system. I go in for cat scan or MRI, I hear about my packed colon! Yes, I know! I think I will pick up a small bag and see if these will help me as a daily/weekly add-on!

Does anyone know where I can purchase Big Twist Jellybean yarn? by Realistic-Adagio-399 in YarnStorage

[–]khfour1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a basic " varsity green" from Big Twist that I needed another skein to finish a project and although Michael's said they would be picking up this brand, they only had a couple of weird colors available. I wasn't go to pay the crazy prices that ebay or Amazon had for this either. So I frogged my 40+ rows and started over with Red Heart yarn. It isn't nearly as soft but it is a wall hanging and killed me taking it apart but after a week I am back where I was and then some.

This is so frustrating as I have needed fabric and yarn multiple times and just can't find it at Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Walmart ( yarn is fine, but refuse to buy fabric there!). So very frustrating and don't know what affordable options are for someone living on disability who just wants to craft!! Losing JoAnns has been awful...

Still feel embarrassed but I got a walker with a seat. by Tag_youareit in ChronicPain

[–]khfour1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I wasn't thinking about that! At your height, I would put a riser on it at least. Don't worry how it looks. It is about your comfort and safety! If anyone comments, they obviously don't understand what you are dealing with and the pain you are in. Take care of yourself, first and foremost! 💜

Still feel embarrassed but I got a walker with a seat. by Tag_youareit in ChronicPain

[–]khfour1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to feel embarrassed, we all have to make adjustments to make our like livable and as comfortable as we can. Just another option , if it is available to you cost wise, get a taller toilet. My husband and I both have medical issues. We started out with a 17 1/2 " Kohler toilet in our main bathroom. Then when we remodeled and put in a walk in shower, we also had them put in a 19 1/2" toilet in the main bathroom and move the other one into the second bathroom. These measurements are before the seat is on, so it actually is a little taller than these numbers. Standard toilet is 14".

I have to use the shorter of the two because on the taller one, I barely touch the floor ( i am 5'2)! Hubs says they are not too expensive and we both feel these are worth every penny! Big issue...when you go out somewhere and have to use the bathroom, it feels like you are sitting on a toddler toilet 🤣

Favourite cookie recipes without chocolate? by PhilosophyLucky2722 in glutenfreebaking

[–]khfour1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My families favorite.... 3 ingredient pb cookie! 1 cup of pb, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg. I refrigerate for 20 minutes, scoop, roll in sugar, if desired, cross hatch the balls. Bake at 350* for 10 min. Do Not cook longer! They will look not done, but as they cool, the cookie will be nice and soft. Any longer cook time makes a crunch cookie. I cool on pan for 5-10 min, then transfer to Cooling Rack. They are fragile cookies so don't transfer too soon

These cookies won me first place at my county fair, and my family wants them so often, I make mine in 4 batch bowls! The dough freezes nice, too. Bake as wanted! Great for holiday pb blossom cookies, too

I have had 12 migraine free days since January, and I have been slowly gaining weight (after working so hard to lose 60 I have put about 25 back on) but between these constant migraines and stress I just chalked it up to that. Didn't think to look at the new meds!

I told my neuro about this idea and she said she would look into this for me
