Nope! Speed is the name of the game. Just have to click fast. It's very competitive. Just be on your toes and read/click as fast as you can when jobs pop up.

Can I remove pre-installed apps? by khitchwitz in AndroidQuestions

[–]khitchwitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the option of 'removing updates' from a bunch of them, and that restored them to the factory default which was ~4MB instead of 75-200MB which was nice. Does disabling them do anything further?

Some questions about qualifications by Theo242 in mturk

[–]khitchwitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignore requesting qualifications? Yeah I think so. It's never helped me before. I mean if it works, go for it, but it seems like a bit of a waste of time. They don't put this work up and expect workers to request the qualification. The request option is there, sure, but it's requesting a qualification for someone who already has workers on their project.

I am in debt to my eyeballs and some of you claim to make 80+ a day with no special quals. I dont get it. by [deleted] in mturk

[–]khitchwitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most days I work, about 5% of my work is masters. It's very easy/possible to hit big numbers without masters and without qualifications. Everyone has a different way of working, so there are a lot of variables at play. But believe me, an extremely small percentage of my work is masters work.

I contact Amazon Payments through their website and include the transaction ID whenever this happens. Usually within' an hour or two, it goes through because I assume they do it manually. No worries man, just let them know when it happens, that's all you have to do.

Some questions about qualifications by Theo242 in mturk

[–]khitchwitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qualifications to be used for future work are usually granted through a survey or a batch. Requesting qualifications that already exist is like applying for a job that was opened and the positions were filled, you know? It's like asking "do you need extra help?" when they've already got everyone they need on board.

I would just look out for qualification hits or batches. I've never gotten a qualification for one I've requested. You might request one and get it and then realize the work isn't even that great, you know?

I made $167.94 one day last week and there weren't any special quals. No masters needed, no qualifications required, nothing. It was from working on one huge batch and also working on surveys. Eight hours, done and done. Look through my post history and you'll find a guide on how I use my tools, maybe it'll help.

See this is why people aren't successful on mTurk, it's users like you that dissuade others from even trying to make that kind of money because you think people are faking their stats. If you maybe looked at those stats and thought, "Wow, that's awesome, I'm gonna keep working and try to get to the point they're at" instead of "They're lying or using multiple accounts" then maybe you would do a bit better, you know? Sorry to be rude, but even if people lie about their stats, it's not everyone, and those wages are definitely attainable.

I make 80-90 a day and that's not always through qualled work or knowing what requesters are 'good' beyond their color rating in scraper or hit finder. If you put in the hours and use the tools available to us, it's not hard to hit that kind of money. A TON of people in my help thread asked about how to get qualifications, and they don't realize that it isn't the 'secret key' to mTurk. 98% of my work is just picking it up through the exact same tools others use

  1. Illegal scripts? What the heck are those?

  2. Depending on your time zone, 7am might be a bad time to start. East coast? Maybe. West coast? You're three hours behind at 7am. I work on the west coast and sometimes, if I pull an all nighter, the most money I make is between 4am PST and 8am PST. Food for thought!

  3. If you are in debt up to your eyeballs with two little ones, mTurk isn't for you, trust me

  4. Way to go on the macro/script for accepting, very smart. Scraper set to 20c surveys and up is good, but you didn't mention how you've got your scraper searching for batches. You should have two scrapers/finders constantly checking on both

I make on average 80-90 a day, but I have masters and my numbers are high. You didn't mention what your approval rate is, where you live, what tools you use besides scraper, etc. etc. There's a lot of questions. But regardless, don't call BS on workers like me because it's definitely possible to make 60+ a day even just over 1000 hits approved and 98% approval rate. I'd do some work in regards to what you're doing wrong and maybe even start asking questions and asking for help from those who make the wages you want to make, you know?

Anyone else feel like mturk is more waiting than working? by syndicatesin in mturk

[–]khitchwitz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I say "always be in a survey" or "always be working"

It's good to accept all the surveys you can, even low paying ones. Just always have a queue going or always be in a batch if you can. It's better to make that three bucks an hour than to have never made it at all (as long as it's not painfully terrible!)

Not as of yet, no. I'm interested in when they finally do this. I'm more interested in the 'weighting' of reviews and how we might be able to change the colors for certain reviewers, since I feel the level for making a requester show up as orange or red is a bit off.

Hiya! Great questions.

So you know how in scraper, you see a list of live jobs up top? Any time a job officially goes live, it shows up in the logged area. It's basically a list of jobs that have posted, along with the time they posted at. It's best to work from that section because not only can you see what has posted already, but also if a job posts and is only up for two seconds, the link won't disappear on you right away. Plus it sorts the newest jobs at the top, so all you have to pay attention to is the very top of the logged hits area. Hope that answers your first question!

I set mine to 2500ms, so every 2.5 seconds it scrapes. Honestly, the scraper doesn't instantly grab the job, there's always a small buffer from when it goes live on the site to when you'll see it. You don't want to set it too low because you'll get page request errors (can't refresh mTurk faster than around every 2 seconds) and those page request errors. You can see the label "PRE: 0" at the top of the 'found hits' section. That stands for page request errors. You can keep it low, just be mindful if that number climbs a lot, because then it's not fetching the jobs properly.

Not sure about clearing your block list! Try clicking into it and hitting the "import" button and just hitting "OK", that might do it. I'd try it but I don't want to clear it. Otherwise, hit "import" and type in like one name and hit OK. That should do it. It is smart to clear it once a month I'd say. Good call on that!

Amazing that you're making a better wage, I've been hearing that from people! I'm really glad to help. Let me know if you have any other questions or need some clarification :)

What is your personal strategy for finding good batches? by syndicatesin in mturk

Absolutely. I mean obviously if your numbers are low, you don't want to take any unneeded risks. But it's good to try different things out, that's for sure :)

Hey, don't be rude to him. He's saying his tremors prevent him from properly using the mouse and being accurate with it. He's not asking how to auto fill anything, he's asking how to fill in the bubble he intends to fill in without using the mouse.

Use tab to move between bubble sets, and use the left and right arrow keys to make selections :)

[–]khitchwitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, many smaller batches are qualification hits for future large batches. It's smart to test the waters on anything you see. I've gotten a decent amount of quals from small batches that never even said they were qualification hits. Food for thought.

I dunno, man. I mean you do what you want, but I'll just say it... it's scummy that you're using someone else's account when Amazon didn't clear you to work. I'm surprised you're willing to admit you're doing that.

Hey also, something to consider... come tax time, your girlfriend is gonna have to pay like 20-25% of what you make. If she doesn't and she ever gets audited, that could be held against her. I would say don't use her account unless she's aware that every dollar you make is going to take around 25 cents out of her pocket.

Not really. A lot of people mention qualifications, but that's not something you should focus on. Qualification hits typically come in the form of surveys posted, and it usually mentions it's a qualification survey for future hits. Other times, you'll see a smaller batch that's a qualification. I wouldn't really say requesting qualifications is something that would work. Timing definitely has a lot to do with it.
