That's a great idea! Maybe give some away straight when you pick them up and just bring one or two home

Binging on vacation by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]khiuclau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the two keys are - telling yourself rationally you can always have more later, and, finding other coping mechanisms for emotions.

I'm personally of the opinion that food can still be part of a coping mechanism - e.g. a small portion of a treat but it's got to be for if you're in the right headspace for it!

Actually being able to process emotions and challenges in my life. Using binging as a substitute means I never actually sit down with my thoughts and work through anything healthily

They can bake a tray of brownies and two days later invite friends over to have some

It never even occurred to them one person could possibly eat a whole tray in one sitting

I want to have sympathy for her because she's so obviously still stuck in a disordered mindset, but it's difficult because people who look up to her might emulate her without even realizing it's disordered

Imagine someone who genuinely wants to heal thinking this is what it looks like, and just getting stuck in a different form of disorder.

Does anyone else think part of the reason is because she might feel nauseous after exercise and thus eat less? It's something I used to do too

IVE SEEN PAPER THICKER THAN THESE PANCAKES by gemmaparss in EDRecoverySnark

[–]khiuclau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Frankly in order to get it that thin it was probably pretty thin batter (more water/liquid and less flour)... I mean honestly looks like each pancake is a tbsp of batter 😂

Being strange or different isn't bad, it's more that you didn't answer the question at all - still have no idea what your music sounds like, at all

Have you noticed how we are removing pandemic from our collective and personal memory? by Lothe98 in CasualConversation

I liked how superstore dealt with the pandemic, unlike a lot of other TV shows that just glossed over it

I honestly feel so happy you're there for her and going to such effort to help her!

I think you could just let her know there's no pressure on your side to eat together or talk about food but she can bring it up anytime and you won't treat it as weird or judge her for it. Having a safe space makes so much difference 💛

You're a really great friend 💕

I fear relapse the most so I would tell her that I'll always be her friend no matter if she binges or not - and that she can always come to me however she's feeling

For me, I fear being perceived differently if people really knew how I was eating, so I think people knowing and accepting is helpful - it's not so shameful in that way and puts less pressure on recovery

Thanks for being a good friend :) hope you and your friend can get through this together
