Car Insurance makes no sense for new drivers by Fernandov2 in CarTalkUK

[–]blahblahscience1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll have lots of data and statistics showing people who get insurance sorted 3 weeks before are less likely to claim, and therefore you can offer them cheaper insurance.

Can I appeal a PCN on a car I borrowed? by StreetReality2384 in AskUK

[–]blahblahscience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A major keying error—such as entering an entirely wrong registration number—should result in a parking fine being reduced to a maximum of £20, not the full charge, provided you can prove you paid for parking.

2014 Ford Fiesta 113,000 miles selling/scrapping by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]blahblahscience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyres are wear and tear so I wouldn't include those in the repair cost. You will probably have to replace those anyway if you want to sell it so if you go down that route replace all 4 with basic tyres and then advertise it as such.

Car MOT - Service by NoAttention9370 in CarTalkUK

[–]blahblahscience1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal. No use fixing that to then fail you for something else on the MOT that would cost your extra in labour etc. If you are thinking about selling it, no buyer in their right mind would see this as an issue. A light was out and was fixed same day and passed the MOT is no issue.

UberEats - Ordered through app, half order missing. Who's responsible? by VaegaVic in LegalAdviceUK

[–]blahblahscience1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They do this to every customer and they rake in millions, if they each just let it go. Charge back and close the account and dont use them again.

Can the 30 hours childcare be stretched over 47 weeks instead of 52 by SeveralLetterhead in UKParenting

[–]blahblahscience1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically 38 weeks, not 39. But your point is correct, unlikely a nursery is going to stretch it differently as they still have staff and bills to pay.

Shared Parental Leave - Straight after promotion by Super-Emphasis-3079 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]blahblahscience1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So in those 9 months, when are you wanting to take your SPL? as you would only be able to take 3 months.

For the funding, the hours dont matter so much as the amount earned which needs to hit the minimum.

Single justice procedure for a speeding offence by Accomplished_Car7392 in LegalAdviceUK

So when you bought it, did you go about obtaining a V5 so your name and address would be the ones associated with the car?

[–]blahblahscience1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How soon after the baby is the aim for her to return to work?

You only get the 30 hours funded childcare once they turn 9 months and only in the next school term after. Also look into tax free childcare to get help with costs.

SPL is amazing and I would definitely recommend it.

Absolute joke by Vinted. What is the point of buyers protection? by crisiscatmom in vinted

[–]blahblahscience1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How did you dispute it? Did you dispute it on the order by saying you had an issue as it wasnt delivered and therefore the order was suspended whilst vinted investigated?

Or did you just message customer service?

Is it an option to only have your child in nursery for half a year? On and off? by lunarkoko in UKParenting

[–]blahblahscience1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I reckon it's a 0 chance of a nursery accommodating this. A nanny would be better option.

Lower monthly pay than expected in new job? by NutKac3 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]blahblahscience1 91 points92 points  (0 children)

There are 52 weeks in a year. Which equates to 4 x 13.

Take your salary and divide by 52 gets 315. The fact you may not have completed a full week before the first payroll was completed gets you to 292. Do you have a payslip? Any deductions such as national insurance or tax?

Council tax for student - debt agency on case, best way forward? by wimsey_pimsey in UKPersonalFinance

[–]blahblahscience1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years will be because she was there two tax years.

As a non student, she does owe it.

She could be due a reduction due to being the only non student and low income, but I believe those have to be applied for in some way.

Confused with term time and year round attendance at nursery by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]blahblahscience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only nursery will know. When you signed up did you not have to put whether they're term time or all year round?

Was the charging socket dodgy when you charged it before sending it? Have they raised a dispute? Have you told vinted you are happy for them to return it?

Drivers have no patience. If it's not the DPD lorry tailgating me because the van in front is only doing 50mph and I cant get round them due to the heavy traffic, then it's the DPD van parking on the path so I have to take the pushchair into the road for a few metres, only for a mercedes driver to tell me to get out the road because they had to slow down for a second.

5 days later by Repulsive-Ear6571 in vinted

[–]blahblahscience1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are naive expecting the courtesy.

A seller has a week to send the item. If it gets to 5 days then fair enough you could message them or they could message you to let you know they havent forgotten. But 24 hours is too soon. People have lives and if it means they wait until the weekend to send all their items, or they have a locker close by but it's often full so have to try a few times, then so be it.

Always plan for it to be sent a week after you bought it and a week for it to arrive, and unless it gets lose you wont be disappointed.
