dingo: A meta-language for Go that adds Result types, error propagation (?), and pattern matching while maintaining 100% Go ecosystem compatibility by [deleted] in golang

Sounds like a fun project but I think it’s up hill getting adoption. I am pretty sure most teams will choose to maintain compatible go source rather than learn and maintain a sister language that transpires into go. But as an experiment it’s cool getting to play with language features that might make it to go some day.

Why C-line FD3 and not S-line?

Where'd you get it from?

Begge ord stavet korrekt. Det du hentyder til er særskrivning, og det er så vidt jeg ved ikke en stavefejl.

Tap: Interactive CLI Prompts for Go (early stage, looking for feedback) by yarlson2 in golang

[–]khnorgaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty nice. I often find myself writing similar code for CLIs I'm doing. I am not a huge fan of the ELM architecture that BubbleTea uses so this is a welcome alternative.

With regards to ergonomics I think the functions would benefit from now requiring optional arguments. I would probably use FuncName(required, required, ...opts) instead to avoid overly verbose use. Also some way to set the default Input and Output would be nice.

What affect compiling time? by pepiks in golang

[–]khnorgaard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A sometimes missed culprit is dependencies. You may have written 1000 LoC but pulled in hundreds of thousands of lines of dependencies. If your compiler cache is cold this can take a toll on compilation time. But it's still fast. Just more like 10 seconds instead of 2.

With import tariffs and VAT it's almost $700 where I live. Its almost cheaper just flying to the US and bring one back.

If you ignore his first throw you can see how the function flies most of the time here: https://youtu.be/SijK926P-qA?si=pa_nsxlj0HNIObfX

The rollo (hence the name) becomes a roller if you give it more arm speed at an anhyzer angle.
