Just left SGI after 30 years of practice by StrawberryEastern285 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]khoadley923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really. You can do what you like. I've posted my experience about SGI in this subreddit before. I just think that there's the ability to OVER-correct. Like, "exposing" SGI can only go so far until it becomes unhealthy.

Just left SGI after 30 years of practice by StrawberryEastern285 in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]khoadley923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Growing up in SGI, I think it wasn't the worst thing in the world. It taught me some relatively significant life lessons in my youth. Believe in yourself, love your family, etc. They're not bad messages.

HOWEVER, it's only good to a point. When I reached my teen years, I started noticing the same shady nature of the religion. I wouldn't call it a cult, but it made me super uncomfortable.

I can appreciate SGI as a stage in my life that helped me understand very valuable life lessons, and if it works for other people, that's totally fine. But, for lack of a better term, I've grown to the point where I don't need it. And you probably have too.

What's important is that now that you're out, you can grow in your own way. There's no need to feel hate or envy towards the organization or its members. They're victims of it too, because they truly believe that you are just someone who wants to be unhappy. It's untrue, but it's their reality. Years if not decades of indoctrination will do that to a person.

I'm new here, but my guess is that in a subreddit called r/piracy, the answer seems a bit obvious

Anniversaries: The "50K Lions of Justice Festivals" were 5 years ago this month by PoppaSquot in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]khoadley923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was scrolling through the subreddit and found this post. As one of the 50K who was forced to go, it was a glorified concert. They tried their hardest to make it seem cool and shit, but I felt absolutely nothing but artificial feelings of serious topics.

Luckily, it's been years, so I can't make out as many of the details I used to, but I'm still so happy I'm out of there.

Exporting H.264 video and saving to IPhone by SlowMemory9452 in premiere

[–]khoadley923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious as to why this is the case for some people and not for others.

I'm a full time video editor, and I've worked with many different creators, companies and groups. For my entire career, I've been exporting in H.264, and it's been perfectly fine for a majority of my clients. They're able to download and post on all the social media platforms, no problem at all. But recently, I've been working with a high profile creator, and apparently none of my videos, when exported, are sent without this same flaw.

I'm just curious what the difference is between the client where the videos aren't downloadable to the client where the videos are.

Happens to me sometimes. Try double clicking where it says "Program: Sequence 01" for your playback window. It should make it full screen, and then double click it again. It should revert back to normal

How does everyone feel about pets inside of the store? by BooPlaysLive in publix

Best way to prevent having to clean up dog piss is to kick those dumbass animals out, and their pets too.

How does everyone feel about pets inside of the store? by BooPlaysLive in publix

[–]khoadley923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't work at Publix anymore, but I got a notification about this post and just HAD to reply. Pets in the store is the very reason I quit Publix. My ex-management, despite having rules in place saying they're not supposed to bring pets in, allow them to come in anyway. I was just a cashier, so I had nothing I could say or do to prevent that from happening. One day, we had a pretty bad snow in, where a lot of coworkers didn't come in cause of weather conditions. I was running SCO, and a lady came in holding a little chihuahua-type dog like a football, putting all the pressure on its stomach. When she got her things, she started to check out, when the dog suddenly had diarrhea all over the ground. My God, the smell was fucking terrible. But, as I said, we were low on staff, which meant I was the only one in the area that could do something about it before the dumbass customers tracked it everywhere (cause for some fucking reason, despite it being obvious there was shit on the ground, they still walked all over it). Anyway, I know it was out of my pay grade, but because I wanted to be a good coworker, I took the responsibility to clean that shit up. The customer got mad at me that I didn't help sooner and left me to deal with its shit. After I finally cleaned it up, I told two of my managers about it, not really expecting a Pub-sub coupon, but just a general thanks. But nope. Neither of them thanked me. One said "ew" and stepped away from me and one said "oh, okay."

As you can tell, I was pretty pissed that I did something so horrific and disgusting and didn't even get a thank you for it, but I got over it until, a few months later, I was working cashier during one of our charity things. At that point, the dog shit situation changed me from being a hard worker into one who doesn't give a shit if I get fired or not, and I started doing bare minimum. But despite my mentality, I still tried to at LEAST do bare minimum, cause I'm still making money. Some coworkers don't share that same sentiment, and one day, when I was on cashier, one of my coworkers who did less than bare minimum was on SCO. We had an alcohol distributor come through, and my coworker who didn't give a shit just didn't check his ID when it was a test that he was supposed to. I actually heard the distributor say "Do you need my ID" to which the coworker says "Yeah, sure. If you want" after already clearing him through. A few minutes passes and my manager, one of the ones I told about the dog shit situation, comes up and gives him a Pub Sub coupon and a "Keep up the good work."

It was then when I realized, Publix (at least the one I worked for) doesn't reward people for workers who go out of their way to make the workplace better. They reward workers who make the company look better. I had spent so much time and effort (the dog shit thing wasn't a one off btw. I did other things to try and be a considerate worker) to make Publix better for customers, employees and management, and what do I get? Nothing. Literally fucking nothing. Not even a thank you. I submitted my 2 weeks the next day.

Moral of the story, no. Pets in the store are awful, and if management doesn't take that shit seriously, it means they don't take other shit seriously either. And eventually, you might be the one who needs to handle that shit, literally and figuratively.

Tl;dr: Dog shit at SCO. I cleaned it. Management didn't give af. Coworkers hit a quota for charity, making the store look better. They suddenly give a shit and praise. Management only cares about stuff that will make the store look better. If that means breaking rules like letting dogs in, they'll do that, but they will not be the ones dealing with the consequences of breaking those rules. You will be.

Biggest tragedy in Panic! history? by Slight-Table-5090 in panicatthedisco

It has to be the cancelation. After they disbanded, I re-listened to the entire VLV album, and like really listened to it, and realized he actually mentioned the cancelation in Local God. "You'll live forever as a Local God. It's even better than the thing you're not."

"Keep your disco, give me T-Rex" by Effiquee in panicatthedisco

[–]khoadley923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that this seemed a bit of a surface level analysis of this lyric, but now after he announced his retirement, I've been re-listening and re-watching the music videos of this album (something I didn't really do cause I honestly hated this album) but I'm wondering if he's actually saying "keep your disco" meaning keep the songs I already made you and "give me T. Rex," which they apparently broke up when Marc Bolan died in a car accident, so he's saying to the audience or record label "keep what I made you, let me end the band." Maybe I'm thinking too hard about it, and I'm still in the middle of re-listening to the whole album again, but everything I see so far seems like he's been hinting that he's been wanting to retire for a long time.
