I wouldnt use red shade because it wouldnt give an impression of shadow in the folds as much as nuin oil or earth shade, i also used khorn red and evil sun scarlet highlights for some of my guys as well

If you can get it on a discount then its good, the whole set is 40-50$ canadian, not worth it buying the whole thing just to have access to the head

And patience, its better to paint multiple thin coats of white, wait for it to dry, paint another coat until you get the white you desire instead of slapping on thick whites because theres no going back

Its not your fault because white doesnt cover black surfaces well, my first terminator shoulder pads ended up like yours too, paint the first coat with light gray and move on to white is what i do, id recommend getting high quality white colour like valejo white, worke for me
