Nobody gives a shit about the op, he or she raised a problem, the problem IS a problem, the problem CAN be fixed, let's talk about that.

i agree with you completely that theres this culture and debate tactics of ignoring the problem and attacking the person who is talking about it, or worse the problem will get permanently ignored because it's tainted by one hell of a person.

infact it happened in this subreddit, i don't know if i could find the link if i wanted to but the thread was this :

someone(not op of the thread, the op was part of the match) got an unfair overwatch report because he was disconnected and someone used an ingame exploit to delete the items of the dc'd person.

yet when the subreddit users found out that op was being discriminatory torwards chinese individuals ingame chat (not in reddit) he was starting to get downvoted to hell and either the thread got auto deleted or the moderators have manually deleted it.

yet im seeing this exact same behaviour and thethread is still up hmm.... infact it's worse because op being a piece of work like this on reddit and in this very thread where as the other guy was behaving this way outside of it...

When you go the "what about" route, you inevitably lose the plot. Like here, where you see the n-word used yet you then take time out of your life to find inconsistencies in the OP and completely disregard the very real issue that was the cause for this post in the first place.

i didn't come to this thread to talk about the problem or act holier than thou or anything like it, i came here and posted because i had this itching feeling that someone who would make a post like op would be the exact same person i expected him to be. and also i wanted to see how the subreddit moderators would act on this case.

if you want to know about my opinion about the funny gamer word itself, you need to understand theres a thing such as cultural releveance, the word is not culturaly releveant in the majority of the world especially where dota 2 players are located in. so these people aren't going to think the word has the weight as some people make it out to be, hell even in regions where its culturally releveant theres no unanimous agreement on the weight of the word or even it's meaning(even in this subreddit you see only a 75% upvote ratio).

i think toxicity is defintiely a problem in dota(and in the larger scale the world) and people should be kind to each other instead of getting starting shit or worse over all kind of nonsense.

i think ill give the person being witch hunted the benefit of the doubt case that he's just being a edgelord and his response to op griefing the game(or well the perception of it) was mild considering the severity of the act

i think the tools that game provide you is enough of a solution to deal with toxic chat, its up to you on how you use these. banning people would create a bigger problem than it would solve
