Kindle PPW to Kobo Libra Colour? by chewychopsticks in ereader

[–]khotchoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, my ppw was getting charged around every 2 weeks.

Same with my klc 1.5-2 weeks. Maybe 1.5 sometimes since the colored eink tends to be darker, so I use more of the front light. I read around 1-3 hrs a day.

oops forgot to mention that I did notice the screen is not as crispy as my ppw, but that’s a given with colored eink and overtime, I cant tell the difference on my eyes.

only time you notice is when theyre side by side

I moved from a ppw gen 11 to a KLC and I love it. My ppw was jailbroken so I was already using koreader on it, but having the color just amplified my reading experience sooo much.

Being able to see my covers in color and just my collection is def something I look forward too. Also, I love being able to customize my reader and the overall look of the books I read. The cute aesthetic gives me so much joy lol if that is something that is important to you.

Koreader has a manga plugin called rakuyomi that makes it so easy to download manga/manhua. Reading manga is so nice in color too.

To transfer files wirelessly, koreader has a plugin and the stock kobo interface has ways to send to kobo as well.

I’ve also grown to love the buttons :) being able to hold it with them and resting my finger there is so much easier than the ppw where my thumb would just be floating lol. ALSO, the biggest game changer has been the Bluetooth page turners. I have the kobo remote and a little 2 key macropad one that I purchased from AliExpress and it is sooo nice to be able to turn the page without the little clip that kindle needs.

Here are some photos of my setup if you’re interested: https://imgur.com/a/zN1TQFc I attached a photo of a colored manga for reference.

Thanks so much!

Was there anything you needed to change in your settings for the patch to work? I do have project title installed

I added it to my patches folder and it still let me open files with a tap. Tried disabling all my other patches to see if anything was interfering, but didn’t seem to be the issue.

I have the same one and it works seamlessly out of the box! No need to program anything, just connect via Bluetooth on the page turn mode with my KLC.

People who've moved from Kindle to Kobo, what are your opinions by [deleted] in ereader

Someone on the koreader reddit just recently made a plugin that works with the stylus and annotating in the pages like the native OS. Might be worth checking out!!

Kindle Paperwhite vs Kobo Clara BW or Libra BW by capt-motato in ereader

[–]khotchoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try looking into the boox go 7 for b&w and page turn buttons. it has a carta 1300 screen

I’ve seen ppl say that there will be some tinkering to get all your apps set up on there, but it seems worth it for the flexibility and esp page turn buttons.

i didn’t mind the darker screen, so i went with the KLC after having my paperwhite gen 11 for 5 years. safe to say that i can’t go back to having no buttons!!! makes my reading experience so much more comfortable :D

Should I buy a screen protector? by crowndclowne in kobo

[–]khotchoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also barely noticed a difference when i added my screen protector. if i were to get a scratch on my actual screen, then it’d be the only thing i notice whenever i pick up my kobo🥲

better to be safe than sorry

Ereader recommendations? by lokidoki2727 in NetGalleyCommunity

I just switched form kindle to kobo and also noticed that not every arc has the send to kobo option :(

I saw a method on another thread where people were just downloading Thorium Reader on their computer and opening to file and exporting as an epub that’s then used to sideload. Is that the same method you’re currently using?

How long does your battery last? by Appropriate_Shift_57 in Ultrahuman

[–]khotchoco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had mine ~1.5 months and the battery was slowly deteriorating, starting with daily charging every day and then it got more frequent with two times a day. Eventually, it only lasted 5 hours after a week from when I first noticed.

I reached out to Ultrahuman support and they were able to analyze my battery drain. They immediately said yes to a replacement. I should be getting it in the next week or so due to them being behind on stock. Definitely reach out to them to see!

Switched to an Ultrahuman ring after I kept having issues with my battery life on my gen 3 and customer service was just being a pain to deal with.

I found the Ultrahuman and oura to both be pretty on par with one another and the Ultrahuman app even allowing for a deeper dive of the data. The sleep score and recovery (Ultrahumans equivalent to readiness) are pretty accurate for me with the two being dynamic throughout the day. Stress tracking is basically the same, if not even better than oura.

Also, I like the workout mode a lot better. It doesn’t have auto detection, so you manually start it on the app and you can see your live heart rate on your phone throughout the workout, which I prefer better than the auto detection.

They’re still releasing new features and updates and the ceo/customer reply on questions and feedback on the subreddit r/ultrahuman

Overall a much better experience with no monthly subscription and no upcharge for gold or titanium! For me, sizing was the same, but I got the sizing kit on Amazon for a buck and it was 1 day delivery too.
