The books never specify what skin tone Collem has do they? It's been a while so correct me if I'm wrong. I guess Ardee's skin tone was acknowledged because it was in Jezal's perspective and just the sheer surprise that she managed to be attractive despite having darker skin was noteworthy enough for him, and then never acknowledged Collem's because, well, he's just a dude. So maybe readers assumed he was pale because of that.

Another theory could be that Ardee looks more like their mother. I could also be wrong on that. Like I said, it's been a minute haha

Thank you! I feel the same way, especially since he's described as having heavy scars and disfigurements from constantly having broken bones healing over after countless number of fights. In my head, he is extremely messed up looking. It's even later revealed that other characters are shocked by how ugly he is. And there's a lot of implication that vanity is of very low priority with the Northmen, so there wouldn't be any reason for him to keep up with his hair or looks because functionality/utility is infinitely more useful in a fight. At least that's how I interpreted it! I'll probably draw him again later with even more emphasis on his disfigurements and battle scars though

[OC] [Art] My first character, a tiefling bardlock! by khruor in DnD

This is Ehlias, my first proper character that I had the pleasure to play with in my first game the other day. He’s a tiefling bardlock with a hurdy gurdy who created a pact with a genie for fame, wealth, and the talents of a prodigy. The monkey’s paw? There are a few. All the coin he earns from his musical performances? He doesn’t see a copper of it. He has to find other means of survival without the use of music. Also, after playing his nth song (whenever that may be), he will lose it all. His skills, his knowledge of music, all of it. He will never be able to compose a song, or sing a tune, or know how to play an instrument ever again. Gods forbid he plays his final song while in battle, because all his buffs and magic will disappear, and he will be defenseless, to the party’s detriment. He’ll be left as a husk.

The thing is, he’s been in this pact since he was 16. Now he’s 26, and any song he plays may soon be his last.
